Jone looks SO happy for you, Glon… @.@
… also heard on the field of battle: "Dude, my sword is broken… shall we call it a draw?"
To which the usual answer is, "So it is. Here, take mine." *shank through the chest*
And here we have two sides of Grummish’s flawed "Chosen One" plan: Glon, who can’t call up that rage as easily as Jone, but can turn it off (or get snapped out of it) far more easily than Jone. And Jone, who can call up that strength far more readily than Glon, but can’t turn it off or tell friend from foe.
Or, in other words, Exhibits B and C as to why Grummish no longer deserved to be the Orcs’ patron god.
…You might have a point there. By which I mean… this might be the story arc that sees the end of their deities entirely. After all, they’ve been eaten, devoured, and when Ramma is defeated… well, we’ll see.
It could be more than the end of their deities. The Black Mountain, which was the central setting of this comic, is destroyed. Elegrost, another major setting, suffered huge changes. Long-standing characters like Arachne, Lucas, and Cadugan got killed off. We got a preview of the future of the world, where magic itself waned, and the beginning of that waning already started (remember Meegs’ failed spell?). I think we might be seeing the last arcs of the comic, as it brings itself towards its conclusion.
Not a chance! I’ve got too much story to tell. YAFGC is in no danger of going extinct.
Yeah, more <a href="http://yafgc.net/comic/2915-a-glimpse-into-the-future/">History Diggers</a>!
Can Darth Jone be turned from the Dark Side? Stay tuned half-orc fans!
Holy crap, Rich!
This could totally go ANYwhere from here.
Seems more like "Glon Of The Bad Timing."
But, where else could it have gone? Glon kills Jone? Kind of surprised that Jone didn’t wipe the mountainside with Glon. Her strength is off the scale.
Between this installment and the last few, I’ve begun to speculate about Jone undergoing some sort of transformation. She’s "healing" back to her pre-crispy self … some effect of re-entering the mortal world (and perhaps the death of Gruuumsh?)? She’s free of her god now, and perhaps the human half of her is now asserting itself, as Ch’Thier is the only goddess left alive at this point that has any say over Jone.
What was she trying to indicate in panels 9 & 10 here:
That she was changing back to her original self? That "One Moment Of Humanity" is ominous if it portends her "only & last" moment. Hoping a somewhat better fate awaits her.
I had wondered about that, she was pretty damn bad ass before she finally got blown to pieces. It seems unlikely Rana (Ranna?) would half ass her resurrection.
Yeah… she’s thrilled for you… and now she will continue to beat on you because her rage is just fine, thanks.
Doesn’t help that she’s an undead lich first raised to be a super orc warrior, and then raised by Rana just to cause death and destruction. So, probably not inclined to be anything but an instrument of destruction.
Of course, fiction is full of characters that are supposed to be weapons or instruments of destruction that say "you know what, screw that, I’m not doing your dirty work."
Not sure if Jone is there yet.
"the burning has stopped
The fire… has gone out…. in my veins.
I have….. freed… myself….."
"No old friend, you have freed us all"
