If memory serves David was actually the name of the yet unnamed fifth cultist who died in the crypt in the story above and who was actually an english ex-spy who had been captured and turned by the German.

Wow. I love it.

Well, my weirdest/funniest moment involved gaming CoC with two friends of mine.

The Keeper was a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft, but really sucked at running RPG games; essentially we were all just doing improvisational theatre, not playing an RPG (since he never used the rules).

Once he had us in the Dreamlands, and an apparation of Big C himself appeared.

My other friend, wanting to teach the Keeper a lesson about using the rules, asked if, in the Dreamlands, we could do anything we could imagine? He replies "Yes".

So my friend said his character would grow to the same size as Great Cthulhu, bend him over a mountain, and..... lets just say, "have his way with him"

We could all just imagine Big C's evil, slitted eyes growing to the circular saucers, and all his face tentacles spreading out in a 'scream'

I swear, we all spent the next 30 minutes at least just busting a gut laughing

Still didn't teach him a lesson though, he's never learned the rules to the game yet (but when we have nothing better to do, 'Improvisational Theatre' is a interesting way to pass the time).

Wow. The player should roll sanity after that.

A friend ran Chthonian Stars this past weekend. Not exactly Call of Cthulhu, but close. We played "Miranda" which saw us to the moon of Uranus, investigating what happened to a mine that was wiped out by one very fast creature.

We open the door to the mine and thought we were ready. I had point, carrying an ice cannon we'd acquired from a rival group's shuttle. To my left was our man with the shotgun. To the right was our man with the submachine-gun. I had both a flame rifle and an assault rifle slung over my shoulders, ready for use. Behind us are our tech, wielding a video recorder, and the mission commander who only had a pistol.

The THING came at us, partially covered in ice and slower than it moved in earlier video we'd seen of it. Shotgun guy screams and flees. Submachine-gun man faints dead away, leaving only yours truly in the front rank.

Long story short, the ice cannon worked wonders and we were able, once submachine-gun man was roused, to rout the beast, nearly killing it, though it came near to killing me (thank you Fate Points). For a moment, I figured I was done for though.

I think they already failed...
