Note that the city buses used in Dead Planet have been withdrawn (I imagine the city probably wanted them back! Or at least the profit <g>)

Doctor Who props up for auction

A selection of props and costumes from BBC One's Doctor Who are to go under the hammer in London later this month.

Fans can snap up their own Cyberman, Dalek or Sea Devil at the auction, as well as costumes worn by the 10th Doctor himself, David Tennant.

Other highlights of the sale include Kylie Minogue's waitress costume she wore in a 2007 Christmas special, which is expected to fetch up to £3,000.

The auction will take place at Bonhams on 24 February.

From the same Christmas special, Tennant's two-piece Paul Smith dinner suit is also up for grabs valued at around £3,000.

A jacket worn by Billie Piper's character Rose Tyler is expected to raise up to £700 while a pair of her pajamas and dressing gown could fetch £250.

Two Imperial Daleks costumes from Sylvester McCoy's tenure as the Doctor in 1988 are also in the sale.

One, altered for exhibition purposes, is hoped to fetch £3,500, while the other could raise up to £7,000.

There is also a selection of vehicles in the auction - including Captain Jack's Torchwood Range Rover and a black cab from The Runaway Bride episode starring Catherine Tate, aired in 2006.

*wonders who will end up with the cylindrical metal bubbled arcs, so they can recreate the tardis interior*

If only (a) I was anywhere near the auction, or (b) I had anything close to that amount of disposable income... ~sigh~

Re: The Buses
Maybe they were withdrawn due to the fact the purchaser would need to be a holder of a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence, i.e you need to be a bus driver, to collect them from the auction house...
Incedentally, the Torchwood SUV (a 2002 Range Rover Vogue SE Auto) has a reserve price of £10,000 - £15000, while the prop head of the Mara from Snakedance has a more modest reserve price of £50-£60...

I doubt the license was the reason - they can't be that hard to get (they certainly aren't in the US!) and there's plenty of other vehicles for sale. I'm not sure the damaged one would even run... but they were buses for the city of London and I can see running into red tape there.

Besides, from a studio point of view, if they actually own them as a studio and not as the city, Doctor Who is hardly the only show that would use a bus in an episode or two -even a mangled one would be good in an ep with a bus crash. I wouldnt think they'd want to sell them.

Well the auction has finished, & the Torchwood SUV went for £18,000 (Note: All prices do NOT Include VAT), the Paul Smith suit from Voyage of the Damned went for £5,400, while Astrid Peth's costume, worn by Kylie Minogue, in the same Xmas Special, went for £3,120 ...
On the Classic era props/costumes sold at the auction, 2 Daleks went for £17,000 & £15,000 respectively, while Nyssa's "Pantsuit" from Season 19 went for £3,360, Adric's "pajyamas" from Warrior's Gate, went for £2,400, Turlough's "School Uniform" from Mawdryn Undead went for £960, & the "Moth Mask" from Black Orchid went for £840...
(For the interest of Capt.Shade, the Garm costume from Terminus, however, did not make it's reserve price of £650, going for £520...)
