I'd say maybe over thinking. Howl dyed his hair to the most fashionable color he could find, and was devastated when the dyes were mixed up - if 8 was in a fashion plate phase, I'd see him the same way. While hiding out on such a world, esp if he started shape changing, I'd see him trying out a lot of different phases to match his emotionally charged self. He did have a tendency to go off a bit on emotional highs and lows, needing companions to bring him to face the facts he tried to deny.

Besides, I've heard that 8/Paul just did change his looks and outfit in the photo shoots for the audio adventures as well, suggesting a new tone and mood in upcoming seasons. Possibly even a new sonic screwdriver.

Yes well then it might be eight then :)

So if you had the chance, which anime would you like the doctor to meet and which doctor would you like it to be?

Hmm. That's a strange question.

But I think that I would like to see the first Doctor caught up in the events of Time Stranger. It would be interesting to see how he would deal with someone attempting to alter history in a way they they felt would really improve things for the better.

Sort of like The Monk, the Timelord who kept trying to make history better?

He was also the first bad guy to return in new stories, wasn't he?

Was he? I don't know.

But yes, along the lines of the Meddling Monk. If I remember correctly, it was a small group of college kids and a professor who find themselves in feudal Japan, and have to decide whether or not to try to save Nobunaga. If they manage it, Japanese history from that point would be very different, perhaps even undoing the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It would also be a chance to get back into the "history lesson" aspect of the show, which I'm not really familiar with.

Well I think the monk returned but anyway I remember from the aztecs that barbara wanted to have the aztecs become better and not do sacrifices and such and ya know what the first doctor said to that? NOT ONE LINE! So yea he would stop it say that things need to happen and then take them home if they need a lift since they aren't even suppose to be there. :)

You have the history lesson aspect in The Girl In The Fireplace. I bet a lot of kids never heard of Madame du Pompadour before that - I know I hadn't remembered being told about her. Also in Unquiet Dead, where you met Charles Dickens, learned a bit about his last years, and Bad Wolf where you learned about Queen Victoria's many brushes with assassins.

While true historical eps may not involve any science fiction enemies, they often are less involved with historically famous figures, and even echo stereotypes from old novels, like The Black Orchid, rather than a 'true to history' look at folks from other cultures. The Agatha Christie ep is a good example of reveling in the OTT hype and showmanship of our view of the 20s, in an utterly silly ep, so we knew not to take much seriously.

Doctor Who/Firefly? I've seen a few excellent ones (like the novel-length 'The Man with No Name' with Ten on Fanfiction. net).

...ok, shameless plug :D for my own ongoing Third Doctor/Firefly story, Old Blue Crate. http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=31218

I like yours. Of the other Doctors, I see 9 or 11 as more likely than 10 to work with the Firefly crowd. 11/Matt is just too goofy not to fit in with the crew, and Pied Piper like, lead them astray with his plans and schemes (with Amy and Rory no doubt playing along - Amy would beg to play a cattle smuggler, no doubt, and insist Rory dress up in cowboy kit with her, as her ranch hand.).

9/Chris would be a match for the Captain, both carrying the weight of a war gone wrong on their shoulders - both willing to respect the other, after a grudge is dealt with, and both serious about helping folk out, in a pinch, tho neither is given to serious ways of doing so. Rose would probably be stuck as go-between, settling things between to start it off, with some sympathy from the first officer <g>.

If we go by who was Doctor when the show aired - well, 8 was already dressed to match. He and Charlie would fit in perfectly and glide along, ready to match wits with a monster or two, hiding among the dressmakers or cattle, or the odd box that was being smuggled to misbehaving settler worlds, while the crew of Serenity found themselves drawn in against their better judgment.

I'm tempted to say Akira, but the original manga, not the Anime version & as for the Doctor/companion pairing, 5th Doctor/Nyssa/Tegan circa early Season 20...
A possibility for the above, is they get caught up during the establishment of the "Greater Neo-Tokyo Empire" created after Akira's awakening, and get involved with various faction's "powerplays" inside the empire...
Another possibility is that Nyssa gets "picked up" by the Tai-sa's forces, after Takashi's initial escape, & is slated for experimentation due to her latent Psi abilities, only for events such as Tetsuo going after Akira, prevent her from becoming No.43...
(I suspect that in either case, Nyssa will be receiving a mental visit from Masaru, Takashi & Princess A/K/A "The 3 Blue Stooges"...).

Not a Doctor who one but sort of related thanks to the ComixBlog;
Forever Knight/Jem and the holograms.

Hey, they're in the same continuity now.

I don't know ... Forever Knight is essentially a vampire police detective story, and the police almost don't really exist in Jem and the Holograms. They occasionally make a mass appearance and an arrest, if absolutely necessary for a story point, but much more than that is asking too much. Musicians are expected to fend off criminals in the music/production world on their own.

I'd say at least one of those stories is in an alternate universe to the other.

The TARDIS is perfectly capable of occasionally travelling *sideways* in time. ("The Space Museum", "The Dinosaur Invasion", "Inferno", "Pyramids of Mars", etc)

Hmmm, Tachikoma vs Cybermen...?
On a related anime, The Knight Sabres from Bubblegum Crash fighting the current version of Cybermen, thinking them to be Genom's or possibly, Largo's latest version of Boomer, with the 5th Doctor, Tegan & Nyssa involved somehow...?
(Example - either Nene or Priss gets hurt fighting Cybermen, & they need warm bodies to fill their Hardsuits urgently to avoid total disaster...
Would The Doctor let either Tegan or Nyssa replace them, if they volunteered to do so...?)
