Sarah Jane Smith's story number three.

Oh no! They've got jawas!

...and I guess all this time those red lights were in their nose. Who'd have thought?

I liked the brother and sister instant bonding moment at the end <g>

Oh, the tears at that ending - they just had to pull out the stops on that last scene, didn't they? And of course, why not - she certainly deserved it, Sarah Jane, as good as her maker, Elisabeth Sladen, made her.

Maybe they're not going to mention it at all. Maybe Sarah Jane will just fade into the background, and we'll assume that she's still alive, rising Sky and having adventures when we're not looking, and then one day in the far future, maybe when we have a Twelfth Doctor, we'll get word.

I guess the idea of her dying just after adopting Sky is a bit depressing, so maybe they'll just skirt over it for now.

Looks like you called it - RTD wants her to live forever, just like Sarah Jane said she wanted to in Goodbye Sarah Jane.

For just the moment, that's fine with me.

I thought instantly of Jawas, too!

The last 30 seconds totally had me in tears...

yeah - I rewatched it later bcs the first time, I wasn't really seeing everything . :(

*slips back into the future of Luke and Sky for a moment*

I could so see Luke raising Sky. With Mr Smith, K9, and a sort of Mrs Alfred butler type to help out <g>

Ah well, 2013 should have Luke and Sky in it somewhere. 21 and 14, and helping the Doctor save the world. With K9. We'll find out by then how the Doctor Who universe handles everything.

Yeah, I'm a lot more hopeful for the two of them as "family" after this story. I'm also torn about whether I'd prefer to imagine Sarah Jane's life continuing on in a similar vein ad infinitum or have Lis Sladen's passing acknowledged by the Whoniverse. There's a certain amount of comfort in believing Sarah Jane's still out there, but it also feels like not giving Lis the respect she deserves if they just pretend nothing happened. Ach... whatever. One way or the other, I'm sad she's gone.

They know just how to pull the heart strings at the end.
