Serosis: Red Dwarf was a comedy sci-fi series produced by the BBC which ran from 1988 to 1999 through 8 series (and 2 failed US pilot versions). Dave Lister, the last human being alive, a hologram of his dead bunk-mate, a human evolved from the ship's cat and Kryten the mechanoid.

And my answer in turn (spoilery for some of the third season episodes, fyi):

Well, yeah, he wrote the book! While he was turned into a human during Human Nature/Family of Blood. As a human, one John Smith (of course!), he would have dreams about his adventures in the TARDIS, and he wrote them down in the book, and he called it 'A Journal of Impossible Things.' He also drew things - the other Doctors, certain companions (*cough*Rose*cough*), the TARDIS, the fob watch. Then, when he became a Time Lord again, he left the book with the woman Smith had fallen in love with, Nurse Redfern.

I'm not surprised he's going to have a stern talk with her...if the right people buy this (or the wrong people, I suppose), there could be trouble. In fact, considering that it's Doctor Who, I guarantee there will be trouble :biggrin:

Also notice that the person who is signing the books is the same actress as Nurse Redfurn from those episodes.

I'm realy looking forward to easter weekend. New dr who on saturday, new red dwarf on fri, sat & sun, and also saturday is my mum's birthday. It's like fate conspired to give her not one, but 2 awesome cancelled-but-revived brit-sci-fi shows to watch.

Sadly, for you fans of red dwarf, I have bad news. Holly the computer and kochanski the only intelligent human being left in the universe will not be appearing in the new episodes. Why, I don't know. Also, for some insane reason they've decided to do a crossover with the soap 'coronation street'. It's insane and stupid. I can't think of a single show that is less suitable to do a crossover with. RD is a comedy set in outer space, why have the characters wander into a soap? This is not what I've been waiting 10 years for. :(

They decided to do the xover with Coronation Street because Craig Charles, who plays Dave Lister, also plays a character named Lloyd Mullaney in the soap opera, so they are pretending that is has been Lister all along working under the pseudonym, waiting for his crewmates to rescue him, or something :dizzy: :rolleyes:

Oh ok.

Still, I disaprove of it. I don't watch coronation street, so I'm not going to fully appreciate what's going on. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's not like a soap and a sci-fi comedy would have the same fanbase.

Yep. You'd think the lesson would have been learned after the Dimensions in Time charity crossover debacle between Doctor Who and another UK soap opera Eastenders

Terrible idea :disgust:

Here is the cover and Doctor Who feature from the latest RadioTimes (11-17th April 2009), with short interviews with the cast and some production details. This does show a couple of shots of the new aliens, The Tritovores and the Swarm, so be(e) warned!

Now it's one more day :scream: :)

Just like you I'll probably go the torrent route, only because the gold ol U.s.A. doesn't get the new stuff as often as I would like it to.

Not only do we not get new stuff quickly enough for many of us :D here in the States, but I don't even get BBC America, so I'd have to wait for it to come out on DVD! :thehell: ...and who knows when that will be.

They don't have it on the Sci-Fi channel anymore?

I suppose they might, but I don't get that either - only super-basic cable. ~sigh~ :euuuh:

CONTAINS SPOILERS
Scores out of 10:

Story:8/10 (too many mcguffins; chalace & anti-grave drive & friendly aliens, who conveniently get wiped out before the bus gets back to earth)
Acting:10/10 (Exempliary Tennant & Ryan)
Lee Evans: 0/10 (Poor)
Special Effects: 8/10 (Swarm could have had more screen time & look scarier)
After a slow start, tension soon builds up. Michelle Ryan would make a good companion if she appears again in the series. The Swarm is okay, but some of the bus travellers could have been eaten too, to make it a bit scarier.

Favourite quote:
De Souza "You look human."
The Doctor "You look Time Lord!"

I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

There are ways to see it, as a couple of us have pointed out before, but I won't divulge any information on this forum. (nor can I, probably against the rules)\

EDIT::.

Things get spoilery from here on out:

Notice at the end, the woman says "He will knock four times" after that "It is returning through the dark" stuff. I know this can be a leap, but in the 'The Sound of Drums', the drums The Master was hearing and using to control was rhythmically 4 beats of 4 notes.

Edit::.

I also love it that after the Doctor learns that Malcolm read all of his files that he asks him about the giant robot from the 4th Doctor's first serial.
