Unless she turns out to be his sister or something.

...Although I'm not actually sure if kobolds have taboos against that kind of thing or not.

If they're reptilian, their DNA is far more basic than a mammals. There are islands entirely populated by the descendants of a single komodo female.

Gosh.

Still, inbreeding's gotta have some consequences. How else do you explain Captain Fang? (I'm going to flee before the Fang fans draw and quarter me for that one)

Since all Kobolds depicted in this comic so far have been off their rocker to some extent ... how would you notice the results of inbreeding? :-\

Snouts? Tails? Madness?
Oh, wait...

Poor Gilda. We should shut up or she will have Jone pay us a visit.

What's interesting to me is that Gilda has proclaimed that Jone's purpose is to avenge wrongs against women, which would be sort of consistent with her actions thus far (though her first spree were wrongs against her and her mother) but the One Eyed god has indicated that a war must come (though he isn't terribly specific about who its between it was in response to Goria's declaration that the humans should just come and attack them)

Of course Gilda is also taking the opportunity to set herself up as a prophet for the next big thing, so I suspect she was being hyperbolic.

Was she, though? Gilda seems a bit daft, but not necessarily mendacious.

More importantly, I'm not sure she has the ability to actually plan like that.

I don't think she's planning it in any way, I think she's enjoying being the center of attention and letting it get out of control.

That means she really is Captain Fang's perfect girlfriend.

Or Captain Fang in drag!

This does not work on a number of different levels, but it is such a glorious explanation that I am sticking to it. At least until something shiny rolls along.

Such as a severed head in a helmet. Jone style.

I think there is a fifty fifty chance Gilda will surprise as all, though it could very well be as Critical Liz says: she is setting herself up as a prophet.

If you ever watched Gargoyles kobolds use bassically the same parenting technique. All eggs are laid and pretty much abandonned by their parents into the hands of those responsable for watching over the hatchlings, who develop thier basic skills and watch for natural talents to expand into careers. Of course the kobolds in the comic could work differently.
