Yup.
That's a Wargi.
Named for the Welsh Corgi of the Real World.

Two important pieces of information:
It's not part Kobold. That's just a coincidence. Kobolds are little ugly dog-like people and Wargis are little ugly dog-like direwolves.

'Yip': Is the sound some Wargis make. It's also an overused word in the Kobold language. Just coincidence.

Actually, I used 'Yip' a lot because of Rob's superhero-dog character in a community comic we did together once. He 'yipped' every time he got unnerved by something. It made me laugh. So, the Kobolds (and the Wargi, here) say 'yip'.

Like I said before: "Bwah!"

Also, "Yip!" is a fantastic and utterly underused onomatopeia. You should use it more often.

Hee!

onomatopeia

Ah, a great word.
It sounds like it should be a place name, though, doesn't it? If you mispronounce it?

"Welcome to Onomatopeia!"

At least, I *think* you have to mispronounce it...
We were taught in school to say "on-no-mat-o'-PEE-ya"
While I'm thinking a good place name would be "onno-mah-TOE-pia".

But this is WAY off topic...

Oh my God. I *love* this latest strip. It's totally like a Jack Russell Terrier, only sneakier. :D

I don't know - seems an awful lot like the actual Pembroke sitting in my living room at this moment. To include that "Gnaappp" sound.

No kidding! Hah! I've never spent any time with Corgis, I only had visuals to go on (and my inclusion of a tail indicates that I didn't do much careful research, either! Heheh)

Wargis, huh? For some reason I was thinking they were chiwargwargs. Maybe that's what the goblins closer to the desert have.

If something like that ever happened Fang would probably get confused and have the Wargi on his back instead. Its still an incredibly worrying image though. Thanks Morgana

Do you think there could be a rule that anyone who brings up anything to do with Captain Fang has an obligation to provide BrainBleach for other readers?

So what were we talking about? Wargis? Yes, those. Good and wholesome wargis... no insane kobold on top...

You make them sound like something you eat. Personally i would rather not try to eat a Wargi. Firstly it would seem wrong, like eating a kitten or puppy. Secondly i'd rather not have "mauled by Wargi" on my death certificate.
