Based on today's strip, I'm inclined to rule out Cadugan as the Fox. The Fox appears to be even taller than Ealing, while Cadugan is quite short (though still perfectly formed, I'm sure :P ), plus Cadugan's 'pet' fox doesn't appear to recognise the... err... the Fox (and you'd expect it to recognise its master by scent if nothing else). I'm assuming that is Cadugan's fox in that last panel, and not the werefox in fox form, of course.

The "maybe he's using magic to disguise himself" argument holds no water, IMO. Why bother to wear a mask if you're already disguised with magic?

So, who are we actually left with as candidates for Foxy banditry (assuming it's someone we've actually met and not a completely new character, of course)?

Lucas
Giacomo
Thomas
Shawn

Anyone else I've forgotten?

My money is on Shawn at the moment, BTW.

Uhmmm...Lucas seems unlikely unless he just disguised himself for this strip to make Ealing cooperate :hmm: . But this isn't like Lucas.

I know thee is a speculation about WHO he is in another thread, so i just want to mention that if this is the real fox we saw today, then he IS everything masked guys with a vengeance are supposed to be.
Hooray for posers!

Well, he's threatened a guy that incited an angry mob into a group lynching with no proof except racial predjucie so I like him.

You are aware that some creatures can see through illusions/magical disguises, right? We seem to be verging on belt and suspenders territory.

You're biased.

Interesting trivia fact: Attractive people are called foxes because they used to wear the more expensive fox furs. For some reason, we don't refer to royalty as ermines, though.

I refer to royalty as 'weasels'. Does that count? :P

And I'd never heard that 'foxy' (in the sense of 'sexually attractive') had anything to do with wearing fox fur. I'm not doubting you, but do you have a source/link?

Trivia sidebar in my Reconstruction and the New Nationalism class, many years ago. Also, since foxskins were expensive, they tended to be used as trim, rather than the full fur coats we think of nowadays.

Damn, now I'm getting an impulse to go watch That Touch of Mink. And I loathe Doris Day movies.

Can you please remind me who is that Shawn? I have already discarded Lucas and Giaccomo so my money is on Thomas... but, well, I really don't know who's Shawn so I can't have an opinion. Refresh my memory, please.

It could also be "SlitherSlither"...We haven't seen him for quite a while.

Shawn is/was Thomas' rival for the affections attention of Princess Alaria (formerly 'Nameless Lady With Hennin').

He appeared briefly when Blemming's body was discovered (just long enough to ask if the death was an accident), then vanished as soon as Ealing started hurling accusations. That would have given him plenty of time to change into his Fox costume and return in time to disrupt the lynching with his awesome archery.

Of course, it's still quite possible the Fox is several people, but I do think the masked guy who just threatened Ealing is really Shawn.

Are we sure it was the Fox that disrupted the lynching? Cadugan could have done it, he Lucas and the elf woman appeared in the very next strip after all.

Well a Foxy person did get in Ealing's tent so...but yes, Shawn could be the Fox, which could mean an small adventure for Thomas.
