Great. Now the celebrated and highly anticipated couple of Cadugan and Lucas is headed for a collision with number one cutie and forum sweetheart Jone. BK, you are evil.

Jone isn't a number anything cutie or sweetheart. Just a sociopathic beast playing to pretty much every stereotype of nonhumans, empowered women and general fanatic.

I dont know what but if we could package it we could stop all wars.

Got to admit - I thought she was cute/sweet/neat from the beginning - but I've lost any flexibility in understanding with her. Yeah - I'm a little lawful good *ducks* but we're talking innocent people getting killed here
My only hope is that she comes to the conclusion that this is NOT the path that she wants to be on and redeems herself

Jone is a creepy beastie now. When she first appeared the reaction was twenty different kinds of awwwwww, with her huge eyes and her Dickensian story. It was a bold move to have her recast as a villain but in the beginning everybody was demanding a happy life for her (and bloody death for her oppressors).

I wouldn't call her sweet. I'd say she's screwed up, and being controlled and manipulated by a deity. Her upbringing has given her some messed-up ideals and morals and these are being exploited to fit Gruumsh's plan. But evil? I don't know.

The question of good/evil/other tends to come down to character motivations. Is this a revenge killing? Bloodlust getting out of hand? Following the orders of her god 'cause by hokey, when a god says jump, you say how high... Could be a sense of justice derived from her experiences as a kid, could be her going mad with power after her change in status/ability to off people without being run out of town for it...

Thing is, we're not likely to get that info from anywhere other than Jone herself (or BK, but sticking in-universe...). And she's been kind of tight-lipped on that subject.

Morgana, there's a large slice of the viewership that never saw her as anything other than a creepy little wretch. I have far more empathy for Goria than I will ever have for Jone.

I'd say reader opinion has firmly turned against Jone. Yeah, she was always cute witha hint of creepy but she's long since stopped being sympathetic, even if it's mostly the mob doing the most horrible things. The silent aspect of her personality has pretty much robbed her of any ability to explain herself or her motivations, leaving us only with that kobold (whose not really reliable) as a voice.

Edited to add: Looking back aftera few hours I think I was ruder than I intended to be, I apologise.

I wonder. Is Goria the only thing that has been stopping Jone from going on a bloody rampage all of this time? Jone has always been strong, after all, but Goria is the one who tried to fit into her adopted society, and she had authority over Jone as her mother.

If ever it becomes a question whether Jone should obey the word of Gruumsh or the word of Goria, I wonder what she'd choose.

I go with Goria, the problem will be with the mouths of her followers. They are the ones that actually make the battle charges.

I would also take Goria, but that could mean her end in the hands of her own army.
