So Adwen's alive - yay!
Lewie is back - yay!
Jone is reduced to charred bone - Booo. I wanted an eternity of pain and had some wonderful ideas lined up.
One Eye - If that is a horde of the greatest orcs ever, go back to the godly equivilant of working at a Quik-e-mart.
Now maybe Lewie can nuke that <<censored>> kobold. Or maybe Bloodhand - after all openly cheering someone who assaults the queen is not a way to win friends or have a healthy life.

How is she get blasted though - Did Lewie nuke her from underground? And there seems to be a lot of smoke puring off Jone after she gets hit by the fire arrow.

Wow!

Rich, I've said it before and I've got to say it again, your storytelling skills are fantastic! This storyline has been a wild ride, you built the tension and suspension with great skill, and then this payoff was just right, as well as hilarioius!

Along with all that I also love those panels of Cadugan and Lucas. That was beautifuly done, too.

Hey, if it's possible in the YAFGC world for two guys to get married, I know a certain elf bard, last seen in Drostardy performing with the Frank de Boer Experience, who would be honored and delighted to provide the music at their wedding. At least, I'm pretty sure he would be, but then again, there's still a lot I don't know about that elf. ;)

The only thing I find a bit sad is that nobody tries to care for Arachne. Goria and Maula have Glon, Adwen has Catianus, Cadugan and Lucas have each other. Only Arachne is (almost) dieing alone.

Well, Arachne is alone. Ultimately, all her lovers are playthings, which she can discard without caring (a lot). I doubt there is anyone she really loves. And so, who would be there to care for her at the end?

And now it is up to the fox to get revenge for his daughter!

In all seriousness, I didn't see that coming at all.

Alas, if only it'd worked out with Dewcup! :(

In other news, this reminds me of the conclusion I and a lot of others came to in 3.5e D&D, where wizards are more or less invincible after level 17 if built properly, regarding a wizard fighting basically anything this side of Pun-Pun or another wizard:

"The wizard wins?

Yes. The wizard wins."

I knew if anything could kill Jone, it'd probably be a wizard.

Edit: I still don't get the passionate hatred for Jone, though. She was like a Terminator, really -- just a nigh-unstoppable machine programmed to kill that needed to be destroyed. What needed to be done was done, but there's no point in wasting all of that emotion on her either way.

The "monster" is not the only I'd be angry with. Dr. Frankenstein, on the other hand, has a lot to answer for. Someone who can really ought to kick his divine butt for this one.

But Jone is Pun Pun in this case - albiet a 0.5 orc and not a kobold.

Which is why I suspect any sympathy for Jone went down the toilet once she started munchkining - DM's and players alike despise their kind, not matter what their sob-job backstory.

Not even close. Jone was more like a min-maxed ubercharger fighter -- strong enough to slaughter any normal characters out of hand but still not enough to survive a properly optimized wizard. And Pun-Pun is well beyond even a wizard, or for that matter Gruumsh as well, being effectively infinite in power.

The point being, though, that Jone was made the way she was; she was just a malfunctioning, poorly programmed weapon from the start. The (stupid) mad scientist who made her (think of him as the player who created the min-maxed character, if you like) is the one who really owns responsibility for all of this. And by that I, of course, mean Gruumsh.

That was a first class twist/awesome moment. For a second, I forgot I was reading Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic and thought I was reading Order of the Stick. Truely wonderful.

Hmm now that Jone's dead, I guess she'll be going to the Orc afterlife instead of the Human one. I wonder if she'll make the Eternal Battle less interesting. "Stop killing everybody Jone!!!"

Unless they send her to one of the hells Gruumsh threatened Glon with.

Oh, I bet Gruumsh prepared for her soul something really interesting. It's the orcish god of slaughter we're talking about.

A private hell, containing infinite Fangs and that oracle kobolds, just talking. And she can't kill them. Just can't. Not a "if you kill them they will just return", but no way of harming anything. At all. And maybe be gaged with a piece of wood, for the lolz.

I've never been a fan of the color strips, but wow, was this one ever epic.

Speaking of expressions, Catianus is the only one who doesn't look either unspeakably freaked out or half-dead there, possibly because he's not seen what she can do up close and extra-personal (yeah, Glon's never fought her, but she's his adopted daughter; I bet he's gotten his butt whipped in a sparring match at some point).

Phew. Adwen's looking gloriously scratched up, but she's at least well enough to talk, and Arachne's at least conscious, going from the pressure she's putting on that throat bite. She's not making any of her usual commentary, though - wonder if she'll be mute for a while? Maula's the one I'm really worried about, since it would be Classic Storytelling to have her kick it and land all those responsibilities and sticky aftermath onto Glon, a la Owen getting murdered by zombies and doing the same thing to Lucas. Speaking of Lucas, that was one heck of an adorable last words exchange there. (I have a feeling that if Glon noticed them over the immediate concerns of "shit shit shit the REST of my family is either bleeding to death at my feet or trying to kill us all", at some point he's just going to corner Lucas and be like "Ha-HAH, I knew it! Once Charlotte gets back, she owes me fifty bucks.")

I'm not sure what happened with the arrow - did it go through her, or did it get stuck in the armor this time, or did she catch it? It's kind of a moot point, given Lewie's excellent saving of the day there. Seriously, perfect. Out of left field, but made so much sense. I wonder if there's foreshadowing in earlier strips...

Guys and Gals, please think this through. When Jone dies she either goes to Ch'their if she was more human during her life or to Gruumsh if she was more Orc during her life. Should Lewie raise her into Undeath then she goes to neither. Plus Lewie gets a real scary bodyguard. If Lewie does a better job at controlling Jone then Gruumsh did and he can animate her with her skill and strength intact.

I'm not sure about YAFGC world but in many D&D games you can't raise a person from the dead if the body is an undead creature. So Jone's followers would not be bringing her back.

Also, character: Lucas kept making and trying out plans when Glon and Catianus were just despairing. Go Lucas! You've come a long way from being an arrogant bully of Glon.

Very interesting 1400. I now look forward to the wrap ups of this story arc and the start of the next. This is not finished...
