Huh? I doubt Lewie knows what he said himself...

Actually, I find it interesting that he's reverted to what he wanted to be as a boy. A powerful mage and advisor to the person on the throne.

Lewie has gotten a lot more focused now that he isn't worried about appeasing his goddess.

"You know, Lewie, you're absolutely right. Come to think of it, you're good at making explosions that could consume large numbers of enemies in confined spaces, aren't you?"

Causing large explosions underground isn't the best idea.

And I'm sure people have done more desperate things when in such dire straits. Most D&D explosions (e.g. fireball) aren't even inherently concussive per se... but if that's a problem anyway, I don't know, giant clouds of poison gas or any of the one googleplex plus one other tricks wizards can do.

At the very least, you'd think you'd want to have such a powerful caster trying to unsummon/banish/nuke those giant spiders that turned the tide that *had been* briefly in the orcs' favor. (Orcs might not take kindly to having some lich upstage their whole army and winning the war FOR them, but wiping out the drow's "cheating" advantage? Sure thing.)

We haven't even seen a widescale deployment of that drow-dissolving acid Lewie was so proud of.

Again, cloud of poisonous gas released in an enclosed space is also not a good idea. Terrain is important when using spells. Also, he may not have actually memorized any useful spells at the moment.

There's another consideration, too: Lewstrom made a play for absolute power in the past. Right now, Maula knows she has him under her command, but there are checks and balances to consider. She can use the weapons he gives her, but she probably doesn't want to see him become the one who wins her wars for her; Orcs tend to appreciate those who win great battles.

Yes, he strived once for absolute power, so what? If he had wished, he would have had it long ago. Apparently, he has reconsidered his aims and now seems to be content with his place and role as it is. I think he just performs the duties of Mrs. Bloodhand's advisor and maybe... friend?
Or maybe he remembers that some nasty drow made his dream of absolute power much less awesome and now just wants to retaliate for his shame.

Even if Lewstrom has genuinely changed his ways, Mrs. B. can't just forgive and forget; he's too dangerous and powerful for that. She has to keep his influence in check somehow, regardless whether she's starting to appreciate him -- and she's already admitted that he is twisted, even by Orc standards.

True but if they loose the war this day, none of this will matter. Better to use him and then do some damage control.

A healing spell, probably.

Nope. A graphic typo. It has been corrected on the original. I've been a bit rushed to get these last few posted.
