Did Arachne just initiate a confrontation with Lolth?
With a drider and an adolescent by her side?
Goody!

Interesting... Mahr'i is a lot less self-assured when her plans do not go as... planned. ^^ Seems to me that she just showed a little weakness to Lolth -- and with what Arachne and Anancy are bringing to the gaming table, a little goes a long way.

Who needs guards? Who is stupid enough to attack a goddess?

There has already been a queen that relied on Loth's support too much.

I'd guess the Queen's Lifeguards got wiped out holding off the beholders long enough for Mahr'i to run for it.

Lolth employ demons? Are they like, demon demons, or is it just an honorary term for those in her employment in the afterlife?

Aren't some of those very big spiders that have been in battle are demons?

Lolth's first appearance in canon was in the G1-3/D1-3/Q1 series in the last of which she is the eponymous Queen of the Demonweb Pits. She counted as a Demon Lord in that context and was one of the more killable ones. So her having demons on call is quite traditional.

They're demon demons. Which presumably follow her and do her bidding so as to benefit from her power. Even a demon might be willing to serve a God for the right price.

Quite often that price is: "I won't kick your butt and eat you feet-first while still alive if you do as I say."

Indeed.

I imagine they probably follow Lolth for the same reason that those little feeder fish follow Sharks; if they make themselves useful there is a good chance Lolth will keep them around and it's not like she's likely to try and make them do things they don't want to do.

I imagine the relationship would probably be similar to the little feeder fish that follow sharks around.

Plus, many demons find Lolth, and other evil gods, to be awesoem and entertaining. Lolth spreads choas, corruption, suffering and blight upon whatever she sees and demons LOVE that.

Plus, some she just created herself.
