"Lamaze" is also the name for a series of techniques intended to reduce pain during childbirth - it involves breathing exercises and using focal points and so on. Any time you see 'birth classes' in western movies or tv with pregnant women and their partners, it'll be Lamaze. (even though there are a bunch of other similar systems and birth classes - that's the most well-known one).
