Hahahha!
Of course she's not likeable! She's a Drow.

I've always found Arachne to be a likable character. Not a morally agreeable character, but that's not the same thing as likable. There are plenty of villains or people with evil qualities in games, books, movies, etc... that have an overall appeal to their character despite the fact that you can't relate to them or their decisions.

That said, as far as Arachne vs. Glon goes, I'm with timemonkey in that I don't really feel like I'd be too upset if Glon were to die at this point. He was definitely one of my favorite characters in earlier Years, but he's changed a lot recently.

I know I would miss Arachne's antics and cunning though if she were to die right now.

Well, that would be a blatant lie, because Arachne is obviously much tougher than Alzaer'bith. Moreover, while lurking through the caves, she must have gained knowledge of many a dark secret. Therefore, torturing her (with sufficient skill) would be a great gain in either meaning. And Arachne is intelligent enough to distinguish such lies from true feelings and intents.

Moreover, Arachne's arrogance, unlike e. g. Alzaer'bith's, has a solid base, because she is way cooler and much more capable than most of other Black mountain inhabitants, and not due to sheer strength, imbalanced magic or divine powers, but mostly due to own intelligence and (sic!) charisma.

Whoever will win that battle, my respect to Rich for getting 'immune' characters into a serious clash with each other.

There's no point in torturing Arachne--she gets off on it. You want something out of her head, go contract an illithid. Just make sure you have enough brains for payment without including yours.

Wouldn't work either5, Arachne can spit corrosive venom, she'd just free herself.

I don't think that her venom corrodes all materials a cage could be made from.

Perhaps not, but unless you happen to have one made out of something she can't break or melt already you then have to hold her long enough to get a cage made/delivered.

Or just have your illithid mind blast her into gibbering idiocy and offer it a dinner bib.

Well, that defeats the point of taking her hostage to extract information. XD

Dude, mind reading. Or the illithid learns what she knows, like Mr. 'Squid did to the hobgoblin sailor.

Oh, yes, an illithid would be useful. Theoretically. But trying to break a mighty creature which considers you its punching bag with the help of a mighty creature that considers you its food is really dangerous.

Anyway, Arachne could be detained in a gazillion ways if her opponent is clever enough to bind and gag her. She is not a wizard or a psionicist, is she? As for a well deserved comeuppance, King Eric was indeed very clever in poking her where it hurt, and i am guessing Glon also wounded her ego right now, just when she was gloating inside for getting Lolth to dance to her rhythm. I wonder if she will seek to repay him.
