I shall now proceed to eat up all my unkind words on Eric, who is undoubtedly the master and commander of the known world.

*facepalm*

The jokes keep flying over your head, don't they? Too much time stretched out enjoying sun, sand and surf?

It's what Cookie Monster says everytime he bites into something that tastes bad.

There's an important lesson here, kids: truly stupid people may become king for stupid reasons, but they rarely get to stay king for a very long time. Eric may have some blind spots, but he's good enough as king that his kingdom waited for him to return while he was in Arachne's dungeon, rather than just let the next guy in line take the throne.
He's got to have some skills.

Ummm, until he and Clover had their Joyous Event, he was the only guy in line for the throne.

we dont even know by now he is here because he "knows" maybe he found the carriage and remains of the horse etc and want to search the area around the castle.
i mean the carriage was koboldized right in the middle of the main street near that castle, so easy to find.

If by that you mean on a back road within a very distant view of the nimbus thrown up by the searchlights of a far away town, yeah.

Nah... The Goblins' ruse, while entertaining, wouldn't have fooled the Ogre, let alone someone with half the sense that Ch'Thier granted to a cabbage. As has already been pointed out, Eric just can't be that dim. Even if it's for no other reason that even the Rule of Funny can only withstand so much idiocy before it breaks down.

ERIC: Hello, my dear.
CLOVER: Any signs of the princess?
ERIC: No, not a single one.
CLOVER: And what did lord Finlay say?
ERIC: Nothing. He wouldn't ever let me into his castle. You know, he said he's feeling sick or something.
CLOVER: DAMN! You are the KING over here! How dared a mere vassal to not let you into his castle?! Whatever the reason, this is a REVOLT! By the way, his castle lays just next to the road where the princess should have passed. So, she suddenly went missing, and then that lord refuses to obey. Don't you find this suspicious?
ERIC: Okay, my dear. I'll get some knights and return there. Hopefully this will be enough to talk reason to lord Finlay. Goodbye, darling. (rides away)
CLOVER: Hope he doesn't forget to bring some siege machines with him.
