well does it matter what task it is? noone wants to end up a zombie anyway

Does every bloody venomous monster in this corner of the world SPIT their venom? Sheesh. You'd think they'd learn sooner or later.

I wonder whether that was stunning venom or outright killing venom. If it's the latter, rigor mortis has set in very quickly! ^_^;

Why would a healing well have a guardian though? Curiouser and curiouser.

Why is the Tree of Life guarded by a giant flaming sword?

Because good things do not come for free; you need to somehow earn and deserve them.

And some things that seem good, are actually hideously dangerous if used the wrong way, and need to be kept from the hands of the unenlightened...

I could accept that for a book of ultimate knowledge but doesn't everyone deserve healing?

Don't forget that some plagues are the results of curses from god(s). They might get a little tetchy about there being an instant work around for their karmic retribution, and they're reputed to be just a tad vengeful.

Hmmm. Maybe that explains all of the different kinds of apparently unrelated monsters too.
