We've got a whole lot of YAFGC so far - more than 1400 strips worth and growing. We're very proud of that, but it means that new readers sometimes have a hard time figuring out where to start. I'm building an intro page for the new version of the site, and here's where I need your help!

If you had to choose five strips that were most representative of YAFGC - not the best strips, not your favourite strips necessarily, but the ones that would be the best five for a new reader to 'get' what we're up to over here - what would they be?

Probably 6 (the 'sorta bad' one), 77 (i slept my way to this post), (Broch's borthday), Charlotte's punishment (97)... then there are the more plot oriented ones, i will get back with them :-) .

When it comes to five, I would suggest the color strips. They sum up the story the best it seems.
Lets see, my five sum up color strips:

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1300
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1000
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=800
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=600
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=200

Yet reverse that order.

I want to avoid doing all colour strips, though putting in one might be good. The strip itself is black and white, after all, and I don't ever want to misrepresent what we are.

Plus the color strips are usually spoilers.

Spoilers can be fine, as long as itks not some big reveal. This is intended for an intro page for new readers to give them a flavour of the strip and make them feel less lost jumping in at a story arc or at the current strip. I don't intend to do a synopsis of the comic as a whole, but it should be a way to get new readers comfortable with jumping in and reading.

My #1 recomendation would be the very first strip. I was hooked from just those three panels.

#68 is my favorite of the wargi strips. I shamelessly stole the idea and gave an NPC kobold paladin one as a mount.

Strip #124 The Goliath Syndrome is all kinds of awesome as well.

I'll get back w/ you once I've sifted through some more and can narrow it down to 2 more suggestions.

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=170 - Genocide and Armageddon - this kind of humor strips is where YAFGC really shines

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1409 - Melanchimerae - of the same type, and I found it brilliant

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=826 - How to cheat your way to be able to haunt

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1005 - chimera is one of my favorite, it is after all, 3 heroes in one =D

http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=300 - we have to have one colored strip, right? :)

I'll have to think on the list, but my first strip was this one and it sucked me into the comic:

Salvete!
*delurks to help*

I think my first strip was that one
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=637
but I'm not completely sure since it has been a while.

Okay, five strips... that's a really tough choice. I decided for the following ones:
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=11 - the 'Gretchenfrage' of chimeradom (or is it chimerakind?)
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=264 - some action and the two most intriguing (in the truest sense of the word) female characters
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=373 - there has to be a strip with captain Fang
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=549 - my favorite story arc and an example of community impact
http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1000 - if there can be a colored strip I think it should be this one. Not only it is the 1000th strip and has Lucas and Cadugan in it, but the last panel tells the reader more than 5 strips possibly could.

I hope that was helpful.

Best wishes and many thanks for this wonderful comic, that keeps me dreaming, laughing, hoping and crying for more than two years,
your little witch (who apologizes for her really bad English and goes back to her lurking place)

I've recently discovered your comic and has been enjoying it since then.

If you want an intro page how about http://yafgc.shipsinker.com/index.php?strip_id=1043? That one was really funny for me, but maybe it would give the wrong impression to newcomers? Dunno.

Edit to add - when I started the comic I kept wondering: what's the big deal with the eyeful blob. What could he possibly do to anyone? It wasn't until he fired his laser-eyes that I understood (and remembered). So maybe my mind was under a rock. Put a page with Bob's Laser eyes in it.

Ooh, good call! The toss-up right now is between that one and Glon's resurrection, but I think 1000's a better bet overall. I can't make the page too long or I'll lose people, despite the whole theoretically infinite canvas we've got on this here intarwebs. :D

Noooo, don't go! Your English is better than some many native speakers', and we'd love to keep 'seeing' you around the forum!

You too, guttering flame - welcome, and thank you very much for the input! I've got a couple of Bob strips on my 'narrowed down' list and I'll check to make sure I've got at least one with a good power demo.

I found the strip while on vacation (or was it just an extended sick leave?) so I started with 1.

Yes please stay, we may jump on each other every so often for little things but we like each other and value opinions on our subjects. Also, we have pie.
