Rich Morris' Comics - YAFGC and The ComixBlog

The Comics Blog (Ten Doctors, Paulus, etc) is currently down - Dreamhost did some kind of emergency migration and broke a lot of things along the way. YAFGC and the forums appear to be back, but the comics blog is not. I do have full backups as of yesterday afternoon and a trouble ticket in, so with any luck they'll either be able to fix what they broke or I'll be able to wipe and reinstall and we'll be back up in a day or two.

All the usual fixes for wordpress problems (clearing the cache, reuploading php files, deleting plugins) are not working. Everything appears to be intact as far as the files and database are concerned, the page itself just won't display. I've entered a new trouble ticket and we're waiting to hear back.

If all else fails, we may have to install a new copy of wordpress and attempt to reload the backed up files. This is a worst-case scenario I'm hoping to avoid, of course, since it'll take ages and be a giant pain in the ass.

BACK ON THE AIR

Dreamhost has fixed the issue and apologized for the delay, and the comics blog appears to be back up and running. There may be some minor glitches as we reload, but so far I haven't noticed anything.

Never mind - it's still fucked. The main page is up but nothing else is. (404 errors all around). More news as it happens.

OK, NOW we're back. .htaccess got nuked somehow, and they've since replaced it. The Comics Blog should now be running to spec again.

Hate to tell you this then, but I've collected a couple Page Not Founds since your announcement. A refresh brings things up, though.

Yeah, the site is busy rebuilding things. Refresh and clear your cache and hopefully by tomorrow things will be all streamlined and pretty again.

I hope it will be fixed soon, but I havent been able to get in to the ComixBlog this afternoon. I didnt start looking at it seriously till 2:20pm EDT (NYC time) when I tried various links (YAFGC shows up fine), but I can't get the latest page to show. (Page before that shows up, but I haven't risked dumping my cache to test that).

I'm using Firefox on a Windows XP computer. I was hoping at first it was just a glitch on my end as this is just a back up model with bare bones processing capabilities, and frequently hangs on a chrome related script on the page .. but so far nothing is bringing up the page.

At any rate, if the problem occurs for anyone else, at least you have a time frame to work with.

It's been working perfectly for me all day (firefox, windows XP). I'll clear all the caches just to be on the safe side; please let me know time/system if it recurs/keeps happening.

I tried it again 10 minutes ago and it's working again. Go figure <g>
