Rich Morris' Comics - YAFGC and The ComixBlog

I can't seem to make an avatar of Lewie small enough by KB standards. The smallest I can make it is 18.8, more than three times the size that it needs to be. I've got it in the right size by width and height, 8 each, but that kilobyte stuff's ruining it. Is there any way I can fix it up and make it work?

How are you saving it (jpg, gif, png?)

What am I supposed to save it as and how?

There's no One True Way, just that each has a different compression ratio and will give you different file sizes. jpgs are smaller than gifs, I believe.

We're out of town at a family wedding this weekend, and my net access is extremely limited. Perhaps someone here can walk you through it.

I had to play around a freaking lot to get my beloved cap'n. Did a lot of cropping and saving and cropping and saving.. I could give it a shot if you tell me what picture you want. There are probably better qualified people to do this, but since no one has offered their services yet, I can try.

Well, I've got the right size as by width and height standards. Exactly 80x80. I just can't get it down to 6KB.

I had a fair amount of trouble with mine, especially as it began as a fullscreen picture

Update: With the new setup, my Gravatar is failing to show up, do I need to do something (like link the new site to it) in order to have it come up on my replies?

It shouldn't do... it should just work. the ComixBlog is set to only display G-rated avatars; is yours rated for older eyes?
