Okay girls and boys of the Forum. I'm putting together the text for an FAQ so that my beloved DungeonMaster can put up a page of quickanswers. I've got five so far, these are:

When are you going to ink and colour the comics?

Are we going to get to see Arachne naked/topless?

Are you going to do a joke about (insert favorite monster or gaming situation here)?

Does Lewie have an army of (undead) squirrels?

Is (insert character name) based on (insert real life person name)?

Are there any others you think should be on the list?
Please keep sarcasm to a minimum or it'll take forever to get done.

This question:

Does Lewie have an army of (undead) squirrels?

Needs a follow-up, I think. Something along the lines of:

And why is that funny?

so that the Guild joke background can be explained.

And as Phnee mentioned, maybe a brief explnation of D&D alignments?

Why do you keep capitalizing words like "Evil," and what's this "Lawful" thing mean, anyway?

Agreed. I've added it to the list. I'll need your help explaining that one, though.

Ah yes. Excellent. Added to the list. Thank you.

Oh dear. The Lich thing is, seriously, All My Fault. I think I said to John once that Louis was here before us (he'd already been with the Guild at least a year when we joined), and he would be here after us (we were nearing graduation and he was either starting on a new bachelor's or still on the old one), and that he'd probably been here since the founding of McGill ... and the Lich thing grew up from there.

When Louis masters full control of the squirrels of Mount Royal, I am so going to be the first one taken down.

And, as irony would have it, Lewie the Lich is grinning at me from the corner as I type this.

The first draft of the FAQ is up! Please take a look, let me know of any mistakes, and if you have any more questions which haven't been addressed, toss them up here in this thread.

Thanks, all!

The comic's FAQ looks fine so far. Nothing new occurs to me right now.

However, there's a different FAQ page (a how-to-use-the-forum FAQ) linked from the forum page. Is it possible to make up some disambiguation, like "comic FAQ" vs "forum FAQ", or something of the sort?

Could do, but since you go to the comic FAQ from the comic page, and the forum FAQ from the forum page, it seemed relatively well-differentiated already. :P

Edited to add: the place where the bulletin board code has set the variables for the links on the top of the forum is very well-hidden in a mess of templates and functions. If I can find it, I'll rename it to "Forum FAQ." If not, it'll just have to stay as-is.

Sorry, miseri - it's not going to happen.

I've been through pages of code inside this thing, and I can't track the titles down. The page source looks simple enough, but once you open up the .php file it's all functions calling other files, and those files call libraries which are nested somewhere else again, all of which loop back into definitions in an entirely different library... and the names of the functions which call the FAQ and search and such are saved in a lexicon somewhere that I haven't been able to find. And I don't know what else it would impact once/if I did.

Unless I can find instructions somewhere that give me a step-by-step, the FAQ link text on the forum is not something I'm able to change.

Ah well, no biggie. As you say, they're accessed from different places, and now the link title is different as well, so I guess that should be enough.

Why oh why does it say kobold under my name? How can I change it to something cool, like "superhot harpy" or "nubile elf"? (All of the YAFGC ladies are cool, I just picked those ones because I could not picture myself as wickedly awesome as Arachne or even Gren. But I duly note they are just as worthy of mimicry/jealousy/slave worship. :D

I am not a kobold!

Member ranks are determined by post number - every once in a while, you'll see the rank and icon change as you participate in conversations.

If you amuse me consistently enough, I might be inspired to create a custom rank and icon for you. Those happen spontaneously, either because of something brilliant that happens on the board, or after some riffing between BK and I that cranks us up enough to immortalize it.

Much like in the caverns, most of what happens here admin-wise is capricious, and dependent entirely on my current whims. Luckily, I'm an easy-going sort of girl. ;)

If you are cool like me, you could be FANG! But I'm sorry, no one can be that cool. Only one who comes even close is the horriboble troll who is currently hiding from furry animals. You have to suck up to DM and BK, and they might grant you something semi-cool, like otyoghfgjhtuhg... You know, the poop eater.

That's ok, I don't think I could make a very convincing Fang. Or a poop eater. I've been told I'm full enough of it already so I don't think my being a poop eater would help matters. No, I think I'm going for more cute. Fourtunately I've been told I'm that too, and I'd rather go with that one. Hmmmm. Nope, I think I'm gonna just trust the capricious whims for now.....uh thanks anyway for the suggestions.

Look over there, a starfish! :P
