I think he's quoting spin-off media...The books that also have Time Lords made in a loom.

Now that I think about it...I wouldn't mind having an actual room done up in the wood roundel panels.

Is this a NuWho quote that I've forgotten?
The old series never claimed the TARDIS was biological. Just that it may or may not have had a semi sentient core.

Yes it's from Satan Pit/Impossible Planet, when the Doctor has lost his tardis and Rose asks if he can build a new one. Later, in a bit they cut out, Donna/Doctor gives a piece of/seed for one to Doctor/Donna so he can speed grow one for his own universe. (speed grow as in a few years)

M'reen's got it right. I found the exact quote using the powers of the inter-Web:

Rose: Can you build another TARDIS?
The Doctor: They were grown, not built. And with my own planet gone... we're kind of stuck.

She. ;) And I really haven't had access to any spin-off media.

There's a bit in Rise of the Cybermen where the Doctor says that the TARDIS has "perished." And supposedly, Jack is also growing a TARDIS on his desk at Torchwood... *shrug* Take those for what they're worth.

Oops...Sorry. The "mr." in your screen name threw me. Which is sad, as you've explained it before...My bad.

For some reason, some of the new stuff doesn't stick. I remember that Jack's growing one on his desk. I can ony hope Old Blue can grow herself some new inner doors.

That would be fairly cool... The inner doors are pretty durn iconic, after all.

Oh, and about that - it really isn't a big deal. I mean, I'm not offended, or anything. I guess I just like to challenge people's expectations (dare I say, a bit like the Doctor?).

Just my luck that my initials happen to be MRF, which leads to the confusing screen name. I suppose I could change it to something like "Stay-at-Home Mom of Twin Pre-Schoolers," but since that kind of defines who I am in the rest of my life (bleah! not the easiest job!), I thought I'd go with my old standard hold-over from grad school e-mail. ;)

Jack is actually not growing one on his desk. That was a joke between the actor and reporter, about why Jack has coral on his desk <g>

Till RTD decides to adopt the joke as a storyline, it's not going to be part of the story. Now, tho it's utterly illogical that Jack would have a starter Tardis set or way to grow one (considering his storyline in Torchwood so far, stranded on Earth a hundred years after the Doctor abandoned him), is something I could see RTD trying to include it one day - RTD's never let a little thing like logic stand in the way of something that would look/sound dramatic.

Well someone took it seriously, as it's listed in an old copy of the Torchwood magazine, of things in Jack's office.

I miss the white walls and round roundels

But isn't Doctor Who all about change? It's one of the things that kept it going for so long, that keeps so wonderfully individual from other shows. And certainly 2010 will bring change; new producer, new doctor, new companion, and as rumours go, new TARDIS interior and opening theme and/or sequence. In fact, it's been confirmed Season 31 will be called Series 1 when it airs, though that bit is a bit silly in my opinion. :dizzy:

Calling it Series 1 isn't much change...As there was a Doctor Who Series 1 in 1963, and a Doctor Who Series 1 in 2005...So a Doctor Who Series 1 in 2010 is just being redundant.

Would you please point me to your source? I'd like to look at that myself.

My favorite interior from the show is probably the one from the Fox movie.
My real favorite interior, oddly enough, is not canon. An animator named Rory Payton created a slick design for a Doctor Who-themed showreel he put together in 2004.
The video can be found here:

Well...If we're talking favorite interiors, other than the Console Room...I loved the Cloister Room.

It was in this week's Doctor Who Magazine, which is an official source.

OK - thanks. :)

And yeah - that's really silly.
