Sent in the new Peri files, and a friend's audition for Grace's assistant.

EDIT: I might try for Old Leela--and are there any female Movellans?

Don't get me wrong, I was really impressed by your audition. But the Mentor's voice sounded a bit too... gargly, I suppose? Send me another audition, if you like.

There's a female Movellan on pages 144 and 171.

OK, I'll record him again and lose the gargle. Should I also raise the voice pitch a touch as well?

Just a smidge. I recall he had this screechy quality to his voice; a bit of a rasp. Anyone care to help me out here?

I just remember him as gargley <g> but when he yelled he got higher pitched as sort of a scream - I think all he does is yell in the comic. I guess the gargles would make him hard to understand in the version not hooked up with the video.

Having watched all of Trial of a Time Lord recently, i can say that the Thoros Betans, were an odd bunch of voices... Sil does have a gurgley quality to his voice, whereas the older Mentor had a raspy quality (the actor went on to play Sontaran General Staal in New Who)

so i reckon it could be somewhere in the middle...

Incidentally: Arraitchgee, can you give me some feedback on my Sontaran audition?

Oh yes, sorry! I had forgotten about the Sontaran. I like it, but not for General Hazyx. For Hazyx I was leaning towards a General Staal impression. However I do think it will work for the lower-down members of the Sontaran military, so if you could shoot me another audition reading some of their lines? Thanks.

Here we go, second crack at the Mentor ambassador. Less gargle, more rant. Two versions; 'natural' voice and one with the pitched raised a little.

I've never seen that particular alien, but i like the second voice. By the way, does anyone know of a good freeware voice changer/ ring modulator?

Not that I'm in any way involved in the project (even if I weren't chicken, I don't really know how to record on my computer - and my British accent is probably not the best...), but I concur with Cleverest Name that the second one sounds closer (and I have seen the Thoros Betans/Mentors ). You have skillz, my friend. :)

More fun with voices; I decided to have a go at recording the exchange between Sabalom Glitz and Mel during their arrival at Terminus in Chapter Two. I like the way this turned out. :)

I wish so too- they are fun to listen to!

(also like the 2nd try - raised voice - best for Mentor, if you're looking for 3rd-4th opinions <g>)

I thought your Glitz and Mel bit was fun - obviously you're not auditioning for the Nyssa or Terminus operator bit, as that was blurred beyond recognition. I thought it was Linus's teacher there for minute :P
