Posting links to YouTube vids is not violating any rules.

And would be very topical <g>

Okay then, here is part one. Other parts can be found in the poster's playlist.

Warning to those who want to watch it (I watched it several weeks ago) there seems to be a chunk missing at the start of part 4 and the last few mins are also gone.

That's a shame, since poor McGann only got 65 on-screen minutes as the Doctor anyway... Taking away 15% of that isn't fair to poor, underrepresented Eight. *sigh*

I just wanted to give fair warning. I know I was rather upset when I watched it and discovered that parts were missing and I don't want anyone else to be upset.

The one point that I think most people hated about the Fox Film was that the Doctor claimed to be half-human.

I don't really see why that shouldn't fit in with the rest of the Whoniverse. It's as good of a reason as any as to why an alien from one of the oldest races in the Universe would have such a connection to Earth.

There is the evidence that the 7th Doctor was grooming Ace to enter one of the Time Lord Academies, and she could've conceivably become a Time Lord/Lady. Including the adding of the Rasilon Impramtur to her DNA, and she could have been given the ability to regenerate. He seemed to have an almost Fatherly/Grandfatherly love for her. More than he had for any of his other companions, not counting Susan. Perhaps his Mother had gone through a similar process by being a human from some era that had been accepted to one of the Academies. If that was the case, then even though she would've been a Time Lord/Lady she would've also been human, and the Doctor might have been telling the truth when he claimed to be half-human.

I think if the classic series had continued for another season or two we may have seen just that happening. At least having the Doctor take her to Galifrey for admittance, and maybe later her graduation.

And we can all discuss this again when they (finally!) release this DVD outside the UK.

Quote
2|entertain has confirmed the 1996 TV Movie -- which has never before been released outside of the UK, due to complications with the shared rights -- will be getting a North American release within the next 12 months. It will also be released in Australia and New Zealand.

The movie represents Paul McGann's only canonical Eighth Doctor story.

Say, M'reen - where'd you find this news? Now I'm dying to know when it's going to be released... (Yes, I am a bit of a freak...)

2| entertain made the original announcement, and I heard about it from moderators on other Doctor Who forums. I'll dig up the article tho.

edit - I can't find the original article. But here is a link to preorder it from Amazon.com, it's release date is Feb 8, 2011

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_8_20?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=doctor+who+the+movie&sprefix=doctor+who+the+movie

It was recently released as part of the Revisitation set in the UK as well. Amazon is apparently not carrying that set.

That was fast! I hadn't even edited in the exact day or the way it was just released again in the UK as part of a set with Tom Baker adventures.
