In Blink, when Sally Sparrow finally meets him, she's surprised that he doesn't seem to recognize her. He says something like, "My life is kind of complicated. Things don't always happen to me in the right order. Gets a bit confusing, especially at weddings. I'm rubbish at weddings -- especially my own."

Thanks. That bit totally dribbled right out of my brain. Maybe this time I'll retain it!

Yup- this was pre-"wedding just before I die" mode, so we can say it was a previous wedding.

Makes you wonder how much Queen Elizabeth was in the right when she sent her men to kill the Doctor :scream:

I wonder whether they'll bring Sally Sparrow back for the next season. I liked her, she did well. ^^

I was hoping they would show her and Larry talking to Elton about their breif but meaningful encounters with the Doctor in the companion sequence at the end of TEOT, but I suppose you can't cram in everything. Perhaps she could return in the Weeping Angel episode?

Perhaps the woman that was helping Wifred was Ace. It could explain why she's been conspicuously absent from the show if she became a Time Lord/Lady at some point. We know what became of his past companions, but we never saw what her fate was.

One thing my hubby pointed out about the woman's appearance as we were discussing her possible identity (he had also originally assumed mother) was that although we have been culturally trained to assume a mother-son relationship due to their relative apparent ages, for Time Lords, that means precisely dick (to borrow from Men in Black).

My thoughts exactly. I keep thinking she might be the Doctor's wife. Either she somehow survived the revolt that lead the Doctor to leave Galifrey ages ago, or the Time War brought her back into existence (the line from the Councilwoman about living and dying and living again made me think that)

My brother pointed out something that I missed when I watched part 2, missed it the first and the second time I viewed the episode, when Wilf asked the Doctor the identity of the woman, the Doctor never gave an answer but he did look at Donna. It seems in the most subtle of ways RTD was hinting to us that that lady in white was like Donna's relationship to Wilf. Donna is Wilf's granddaughter so that would make the lady in white the Doctor's granddaughter, Susan. Add to this the Lady in White's line spoken to Wilf, "I was lost... so very long ago." This could easily be a reference to when The Doctor left her on earth in The Dalek Invasion of Earth. While I have no proof that this is the absolute answer I do believe that is the answer to her identity.

A comment to the post above.

Although I don't really like the whole "Doctor's Wife" thing. The Doctor did look at Donna, who, well, was getting MARRIED. Just a thought. :P

HA! Good point! ...and one that I, as someone who also really really really doesn't like the wife angle would never have considered.

I agree, I never would have considered that she was his wife. I think I'll stick to believing it was Susan until they tell us who she was in the show.

:D Me, too. We're all allowed our own delusions until given incontrovertible proof. ;)

Russel has claimed that she is the Doctor's mother.
A claim which I am happy to ignore.

RTD has claimed plenty of things. :D I figure we're all safe ignoring anything we want that never gets stated in an actual episode! ;)

It's true. I seem to recall him referring to the mysterious red fingernail woman as the "Hand of the Rani". I was truly hoping for the Rani! :(

I do hope we see her again in a regenerated form...I mean, Kate O'Mara looked ancient in the 80s...imagine now! Eeeep!
