Hmm... Are you sure that's the word you're looking for? I've never met a greedy collector. Typically, their enthusiasm lies in curating, rather than simple hoarding.

Skip the collector then. I will go for "word dragon".
In an unrelated note, in movies all collectors are either evil or unhinged. Or they combine both and are insane serial killers.

Hmm... Put me in the Evil column. The Unhinged guys just can't keep their acts together.

A good point. Most of the "collectors" I know actually own multiple copies, especially collectors of printed matter. One for reading, loaning, etc., and one to be kept pristine for the collection...

I'm afraid that those of us with massive book collections that are comprised solely of single copies are just simple hoarders..

But, the first thing to solving problem is admitting you have a problem... and denial is not just a river in Egypt.... :lipssealed:

Your significant other must be overjoyed with that thought. :shifty:

That is unless said S.O. is the same way. :)

Heh! The semi-official term in the music sector is GAS, "gear acquisition syndrome." It's highly contagious, too -- if your friend gets a new guitar, you may suddenly find you "need" a new one, too.

I shudder to think what Leorin would say to my suggestion that, after reading this thread, I need two Marshall 1974Xs, one to keep in an airtight bag and one to play...but then, I could be talked down to just one, and "compromise," and save money! Yeah! That's it!

I can just hear her gasping for air as she laughs her head off and scares the cats

I can hear my partner calling real estate agents, and making appointments.
No joking here. The library is the one room we have planned.
