I have a speculation here, which I think could either be on the money or completely off. If you don't want a potential spoiler, don't read it, okay? And put replies in spoiler tags.

Who wants to bet that the 'Misfits' are in fact the Holograms, hiding under one of Synergy's holographic disguises? It's a classic manoeuvre.
