I think we can safely now say that she HAS met her match.

Clover with a crown...hmmm....

Actually, while Clover has had a rough time and I like her, I don't want her to leave with the king of Drostardy, as it would likely mean she'll effectively disappear from the comic. And we wouldn't want that, right? So since she is a fairly established character and I find it unlikely, that the kingdom of Drostardy will become nearly as important as the evil creatures' cave, I actually expect her to be back - sooner or later, one way or another.

I think BK likes her too. That means he'll find a way to squeeze her in one way or another.

Perhapes an uneasy alliance between the Mountain, and Drostardy, against a common enemy. Would mean that Clover, and Glon would be fighting together again. And then we could have Sarge miraculasly show up...My guess is he was swallowed by a passing whale, when he "left" the ship. And was rescued when a ship for the whailing and coffee company "Ishmale and Starbuck" killed the whale for their latest flavor coffee drink, the "Blubber-Berry Frappuccino"

Glon and Clover fighting together....poor Glon, i hope that Clover turns out to have a heart as big as her feet when that happens for he has a a lot to account for!

Hopefully Clover won't ever see Arachne again... or if she does, it's at about 11am in an open field with nowhere to hide... Wonder what Clover could do with a pile of self-aware Arachne ashes? Sprinkle on the nearest pub floor? In a privy, perhaps, to help keep the smell down?

"Self aware ashes" isn't always a good thing. I think anyone who watched the Doctor Who TV movie, can attest to that.

Evil? So far she hasn't done anything I see as being evil. She has been a prisoner of an evil drow. She's helped a good king escape ... twice! No, I don't think she's evil. And while D&D states that assassins are evil (or so I recall), that doesn't mean that Mr. Morris requires that of assassins in his universe. Perhaps she only kills evil people. That would explain how she ended up in Archne's dungeon.



Mr. Morris, do you see how Clover's fans are already thinking she is gone from YAFGC? By the way, it also seems that King Drostardy is liked by us fans as well. Personally, I'd prefer that we follow Clover and King than return to the evil cave.

Now before people scream bloody murder about the above suggestion, what about a spinoff? Think of all the palace intrigue, politics, glamorous balls, harems, visiting diplomats, passing-through trade caravans, and so forth that you could explore with Clover and her king. Hey, how about that as the spinoff's title? "Her King"

What? No, I am not smoking anything illegal. No, I am not drunk. Yes, I can count backwards from 100. Hey! It was just a suggestion!

How about this as the title...

Gonna head this off at the pass, here, with a reminder: Rich has a buffer for the strip. He's plotted it out about two full storylines ahead of what you're reading now, and usually has at least a month or two ahead already drawn. Any delays recently were because he didn't have enough uploaded to last when we got hit by a hurricane.

All this to say that while suggestions for far-future story arcs or gags may be pillaged, what you're seeing now was drawn ages ago and can't be changed by forum discussion.

Just so's we're clear.

Translation: Clover's going to die.

And that's the way we like it!

Nah, I think not. While I should, as the old saying goes "expect the unexpected" Clover has had quite a fanbase going on for a while now - and I think I can safely assume at the time of writing she was a well-liked secondary character already. That kind of characters sometimes get killed (usually to set the audience against the villain responsible for their death), but more often they move into the spotlight becoming a part of the main cast. The problem is, obviously, that Clover (despite being an assassin, but I'd say she doesn't have to have an assassin prestige class to fill that role in a unit - or she could have taken the levels in assassin while evil and turned good since then) is at least neutral and even more likely - good. So to have her join the main cast, we need her "eviled", so that she finally fits in - that would give her the reason to live in the cave and possibly - in a way - to be free while doing so. But of course we need a life-changing event to make her evil! And since she already knows the oh-so-handsome Drostardy, what would fit in the story better than an unhappy romance story where she gets rejected, turns bitter and, reason consumed by the fire of love (or lust if you will), she kidnaps the poor king returning him to Arachne (since she has a nice, little dungeon already as well as experience in handling unwilling guests) in return for "visiting" rights? And perhaps the claim to Clover's freedom...

Now that is of course only a theoretical possibility, but I hope you see why I'm considering it a (more or less) likely course of action!

Clover turning evil sounds unlikely to me. Glon had evil tendencies from the beginning but she was always straightforward, and delivering the one you love into a dungeon because he doesn't love you back sounds too evil for a broken heart to justify. Then again...character development can be surprising.
As for loosing her if she gets her happy ending, th strip is not restricted to the caves by budget concerns . And though she is one of my favorites, i think a writer would much rather give a character a fitting end than give him a story that does not fit simply to keep him/her around.
Unless of course we finally manage to bribe BK. Gold pieces make the world go round!
