And in an unexpected development, Stormer confesses her true feelings for - oh, hello Rio.

Well, having an interruption any time a character was about to confess their feelings in the middle of an episode is fitting with the Holograms storylines.

The Crystal that Techrat Removed from the Hologram Machine resembled Part of the Key to Time; Was it?

In love. Those two were the closest thing you could get to a canon gay couple in an early 1980s kids show.

Until their respective bands try to break them up, anyway:

It's strongly suggested in the show that Stormer is gay (she has no romantic relationships with males, moons over Kimber's 'friendship'), and that Kimber is experimenting (has multiple very short-term flings with males, no real romantic relationships, bonds instantly with Stormer).

Now that's not a term I've heard before.

Actually a Xylok would be more Likely than a Piece of the Key to Time. I've never seen any episodes of Jem, but from What I've seen of the Synergy Computer, she does seem like Mr. Smith.

ohhhhhh- that xylok.

I'd completely forgotten the term. If Mr Smith broadcast the Xylok National Song instead of that fanfare, I'm sure I wouldn't have forgotten it. (Unless the fanfare is the Xylok National Anthem, in which case it may be just as well that he's forgotten the lyrics.)

Yes - you're right about the comparisons between the two. Synergy and Mr Smith are startlingly similar in their behavior -helpful, intelligent beings with their own undisclosed agenda, housed in a large computer type machinery, even having considerable attachment to the offspring of the person who constructed the housing.

Yeah, Synergy may be Mr. Smith or at least a Xylok. Interesting idea, Rich!

And beautiful page, too... Dang, you have a lot of patience with the dark scenes. I used to draw a lot and used Zip-a-Tone. Is that still used? Is that being used here, or some other technique?

Don't blame me for the Xylok idea. I don't know what you're talking about. I've only seen 2 episodes of SJS Adventures.

As for the dark scenes, it's pretty simple. I draw it normal but play with the tone levels in photoshop after it's scanned in.

Huh. I never picked up on any romantic tensions between Kimber and Stormer... But then again, it's been years since I saw that show, and few details have stuck with me -- like the Misfits being on Hawaii and enjoying a dish until they learned it was shark.

@DungeonMaster: Interesting find. How screwy to see both bands singing and posturing in key with one another, while working to badmouth and influence two completely different people. ^^; Ah, the 80s...

@BeholderKing: Heh. Just congratulate yourself for being even more in sync with the franchise than you consciously know. ;)
