Given that he's already threatened to turn Taidor into worm chow if Dino heads back to the cave, I'm guessing we'll see his limit break and some massive carnage.

He could even turn villain after such a loss.

I wonder if Lucas has picked up anything from all his time with Cadugan?

Probably nothing more than random plant names and what mushrooms are edible, given how love clouds your head .

So Lucas, once again being threatened, calls out for Cadugan to rescue him. It seems that in some ways as the story goes on, Lucas is becoming less confident and more dependent on others. Granted, he's up against a giant gorilla in this one, but this is a man who waded into battle against an army of undead, and was willing to fight to the very end. Maybe he's just that way around Cadugan, but Lucas seems to have mislaid some of the kick-ass that he had earlier in the strip. Of course, he also had a fair amount of jackass in him when we first met him, but I think he could use a little of that now.

Lucas holds his own damn well against normal foes. He, rightfully so, doesn't do so well against giant opponents.

Perhaps, when saying goodbye to life, he's just recalling his beloved? As last thought?

I doubt it. Odds are he's hoping for a well placed arrow to make the ape let him go. Or Cdugan to go all ranger and talk the thing into putting him down.

I think it is more instictive than that. You just shout for the one that makes you feel safe, no reaasoning attached.
