Wolf is in a bit of a quandry, hmmm?

Mah'ri is probably far far far cleverer than we can imagine, isn't she? As long as she makes sure she is scrying upon him, or has the dungeon exit guarded or something similar, she is once again making sure she knows who her enemies and who her friends are.
Now to see if Wolf, who served her plans even when betraying them to Arachne, can get out of this or not.

It occurs to me that Wolf has very little reason to feel any kind of loyalty towards Arachne. When bad things happen to him (the demotion), she does nothing to help him out (as far as I know), but whenever she needs a flunkie to help her with something, she just grabs him by the collar and expects or demands his assistance.

... Is it possible that Wolf and Arachne are related? As in, closely related? We know 'Racks' has or had a mother, but does she have siblings or cousins? Do Drow go in for big families?

You realise you've just described the way every drow female treats their males, right? Wolfe does as told by the highest ranking drow female to give him orders.

Do you think Wolf's reaction shows an unwillingness to kill Arachne, or doubt if he would be able to?

Probably a mix. He knows Arachne is a strong, competent figure who is an asset to the drow. He also knows she won't go down easily and likes to spit venom.

Yes, I do. So why doesn't he relish this assignment? He's already made it clear that he thinks Mahr'i is the greatest thing since sliced surface elf, and he doesn't understand or agree with Arachne's resistance to her plans.

Come to think of it, are we even certain anymore that the higher power Arachne answers to is Lolth? I'm starting to have a few doubts.

But Arachne has let him know that she is part of some group that seems to be beyond the royalty of the Drow and for all we know, beyond the deity as well. Only time will tell.

As for the relationship between them, even if they are not related, they could be sort of friendly, as much as their genders would allow.

Because he likes Arachne, she seems to trweat him fairly well all things considered, she's in a high position and she's an overall asset.
