Well, the Beholder King is a pretty good sport. ^_^; Many a monarch would have swatted Bob for such an impertinent question -- and they wouldn't have owned up to being a jerk, either. Also, he's pretty cool about granting Bob this unscheduled audience!

Bob has some reasons to be so bold -- he knows his future from Beholder King himself...
And his future doesn't include to be zapped by this monarque :P

Only if he can continue to keep the Beholder King from finding out that he is Bob, the heir apparent. The big boy did say he'd kill his successor if they met before the appointed time.

It took me ages to read it.

If anyone is being troubled by it, I think it says the following:

"I mean like... are you trying to wipe out the drow? (Bob first panel)

or the drow and the orcs? everyone? (Bob first panel)

I guess everyone's against what your intentions are.(Bob second panel)

oh that last one (Beholder King Third Panel)

definitely (Beholder King Third Panel)

or are you just being a big jerk?" (Bob fourth panel)

The difficulty of reading it made the punchline even better.

the whole thing has to be read in revers, from right to left, so really the panels go:

Bob: I guess everyone's against what your intentions are.

Bob: I mean like... Are you trying to wipe out the drow? Or the drow and the orcs? Everyone?

Bob: Or are you just being a big jerk?

Beholder King: Oh! That last one. Definitely!

The word in panel two is "asking" not "against".

It likely says something about my brain that I had no trouble reading the strip today.

And as a last resort we have mirrors or at least the option "mirror" in our viewing programs or Photoshop...
