But-but-...Goria...

It's not everyday that the hero goes on a quest, nearly dies, then comes home to find he's failed it anyways.

It's not over yet. It never is, as long as true ressurection exists.

Plus Goria cannot be dead. We have too much unresolved plot on her behalf. Come on Ch'Thier, be clever!

I can't help feeling that there is a danger of the daughter coming back instead of the mother.

Glon has grown as a person. All unseen, he was carrying a feeling of guilt over what happened with Jone, despite the fact that she tried to kill the people he loves most.

And hey, it's impressive that Ch'Thier speaks directly to him, even though he's currently alive. She's keeping an eye on his soul to see which way it swings all the time, huh?

I hope she does come through somehow, because the only alternatives that occur to me would be... severely unpleasant.

I don't think Goria would come back. Wouldn't two miraculous resurrections in a few years in one family be a little too much? And when Mrs. Bloodhand dies, then what? Resurrect her too?

Why not? She's probably the best monarch under the mountain.

Really, few people actually examine the long-term effects of resurrection magic on a setting. For one example, what happens if someone resurrects a person with a better lineal claim on the throne than the person currently sitting on it (say, Henry the Young King during the reign of King John)?

It's not really a miracle if it's genuine magic. Glon's problem is that he's appealled to the wrong god. Ch'Thier could keep Goria alive, technically, but she has no dominion over Goria's soul once it's passed beyond as Goria went to Gruumsh's domain. Glon needs to appeal to Gruumsh if he wants Goria back and between the bitterness over the Jone thing (for somereason he's blaming the Bloodhands) and Glon just appealing to a rival it's seeming less and less likely that'll happen. Unless Glon manages to pull off something seriously impressive to earn Gruumsh's favor.

Well, in the DnD universe resurrection is not than rare. Supposedly it is only granted if the cleric's god decides that your life was left unfinished though, so Maula probably would not come back, given that she lived long, was a model orc and even left heirs behind her.
I do not know if Goria herself is important enough to merit a resurrection, but if Glon comes up with a compelling reason (his guilt is not that important to the Gods, i suppose) then maybe we haven't seen the end of the Goldkeeper line.

His anguish probably means jack all to Gruumsh, I agree. Ch'Thier, though... She comes across as a bit of an annoying socialite, but she does have more positive aspects than old One-Eye. The vibe I got from her words was that she felt genuine compassion for Glon's grief.

Given that she and Gruumsh literally returned Glon back to life from death in a direct divine intervention it's not really all that surprising that she's keeping a close eye on him and willing to even talk to him in sufficiently extreme times.

That is both a terrible pun and a bad idea. :p Lewie has horrible taste in clothing, he'd never be able to come up with bandages with a proper thread count.
