Errrm... I can't understand who is who there...

Beholders have not hairdresses as drows in "Drow Spotter's Guide" to tell them one from another...
(They have, though, warts (some of them) and eyes on stalks or without stalks...)

Is it Bob2 on the panel 1?

And on the panel 4 -- is it him too (the huge one}?

I mean -- does it turned out he has a skill to change size?

No, it's probably Bob senior. He decided to distract the guards from his little brother.

Yeah, the first panel is Bob2 coming to the abrupt realization that he's about a dozen points on the wrong side of the CR rating. It ends with Bob1 stepping up to protect his little co-spawnling.

I would hazard a guess that in D&D-terms, Bob2 is a Rogue: devastating if he can get in a good surprise attack, but not quite as supreme in face-to-face battle when the enemy can see him coming.

Bob1 has his work cut out for him... He couldn't even handle one senior Beholder by himself, before.

I think that the following "Beholder spotter guide" would be helpful in such issues:
  • Huge, large wrinkles, no eyestalks -- Beholder king
  • Small -- Bob
  • Tiny -- Bob junior aka Bob2
  • Medium, with glasses and moustache -- Ben, Bob's father
  • Medium, with glasses and no moustache -- Mrs. Cataract, a school teacher
  • Medium, long eyelashes and "female" lips -- Barb, Bob's mother
  • Medium, no outstanding features -- all other beholders, appearing episodically and generally unimportant
I hope that the community would find this compilation helpful. :D

There's also the one with the big scar who acts as subregent for the BK and the Spectator who refuses to get involved.

They all want to look alike so I doubt it.

We're also forgetting about the very elderly Professor Orib.

Hmmm. Does that mean he was an Elder Orb?

If they were insane that would be the greatest insult you could possibly give them.

As they're sane, they probably don't care.

Even the humans of different races look all alike to a person that sees those races rarely. No wonder that the most effective distinguishing feature of smooth eyestalked balls is their size.
