Wow. So Arachne gets a queen who will owe the throne to her but is also inexperienced enough to need her as an advisor, while her other advisor, Anancy, will also be indebted to Arachne and dependant on her, given that they both haven't been in touch with Black Mountain politics for long...
Of course it would work better if Drow had any sense of Gratitude .

Though what happens to queenie now? I feel kind of bad for her with everyone having looked down on her.

Queenie is Arachne's property now to be used as Arachne sees fit.

Arachne seems to be pushing things, she' still giving Lolth good advice but Lolth seems to be getting annoyed at her.

Arachne has far more personal standing with Lolth - even she admitted Arachne was anything but dumb. She can survive Lolth getting annoyed with her, especially if it serves a, well, higher purpose.

She survives so long as Lolth allows it and all it takes is one moment too far for Lolth to punish her and then it's all over.

I think Arachne doesn't cherish vain hopes about Drows' gratitude.

Out of her dungeon she always acts... err... approvable. Very.

Arachne is abit like Lewie in this regard: She wants to be the power behind the throne, but not sit on it. (Too many little nagging decisions that keep you from doing fun things in your dungeon/laboratory. )

I am curious though how much Nephilia may have changed from her time suffering in the Pitts. Her personality may have changed radically since her imprisonment, innocent or not.

The other smart side of this, is that only the best qualified (or an idiot like 'Lizardbreath') accepts this kind of a high ranked job. Here's to hoping Nephilia is capable, because years of being in a demon pit can *not* be good for your sanity.

At the least, she's going to be fairly fearless. What can anybody do that will compare to what she's already been through?

This looks like a new Mrs. Bloodhand, but tougher, more cruel and generally badass. Two rival warrior queens in one dungeon? It wouldn't end good. And chances are that we'll see some very, very decent girl-on-girl.

It'd work even better if there was actually someone outside those in that room for the new queen to rule over. With the beholders and the orcs in full genocide mode, it seems very likely that the population of the drow there will very shortly consist of the characters standing in that room.

Before Mah'ri arrived, drow to orc population ratio in the Black mountain was 1 to 15. Due to their arrogant nature, they hardly had any allies. In order to afford rivalry (and sometimes even superiority) to the orcs and suppress some smaller racial communities, drow must have had pretty good fighters and magicians. Moreover, it is implied that shortly before the war drow population had substantially increased by the immigrants from Eastendark. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that Mah'ri would start a war with orcs (and their potential allies) unless she wad confident in the advantage of the drow. Therefore, drow presumably are still holding even after the beholders attacked (of course beholders are powerful, but they are few and not immortal).
By the way, why hadn't anyone tried using mirrors against the beholders' ray attacks?

In that case she probably wouldn't be appointed as queen at all. Black mountain drow are experiencing a major crisis and need a strong and decisive leader, not a psychotic and dependent one. Moreover, Lolth dislikes weak and unfit ones, therefore, the candidate she accepts will fit into the job really well.

The "You are not immortal" comment has me interested. Mainly because this is kind of like saying "you have short hair" - it's obvious. So why mention it?
