I agree with Aebliss. She is not saving the world because she respects and cherishes lives, she just doesn't want to get annihilated. She is a very clever drow who knows how much she is worth and on top of her other flaws has become arrogant because of it. I can only hope that she doesn't find a way to hurt Glon after that.

That's true, but you can't say that she is making the world worse only by existing.
The majority of YAFGC heroes are evil monsters, and they are routinely doing bad things. Yet no other character has earned as many hate posts as Arachne. Why? The only reason I can think of is that she's better than the others at being bad. Why don't you hate Bob? He's an evil monster too!
(As for me, I neither hate nor love Arachne, but I find her very entertaining to watch.)

Despite the fact that the Black mountain inhabitants are evil, they sometimes do good things, even if for evil reasons. Goethe wrote thus about this subject:
Quote:
Faust. ...Well now, who are you then?
Mephistopheles. Part of that Power which would
The Evil ever do, and ever does the Good.

That's a thought. Why are drow just drawn as surface elves, and the color palette flipped, when they've been underground for millenia? At the least, adaptation should've changed the ears into more like a bat's for better hearing and a primitive echolocation.

You're mixing your genres there, Fellgrin. This is FANTASY. With magic and monsters and swords and dragons and stuff like that.

What you're talking about there is SCIENCE FICTION. That's where they try to figure out what would 'realistically' happen if things were different.

That's like wasting a lot of brain power trying to figure out how the Coyote manages to survive getting an anvil dropped on his head and being angry that he isn't shown breaking bones and bleeding.

I like Arachne. I'm pretty sure she and I went to school together. Those were great times.

I was actually always more upset about the tunnel drawing on the wall deal... IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!

Yes, but the angle matters and no bird would be able to pass through it!

Thousands of years isn't that big a deal for elves. And elves are magical anyway so even if they adapt to a new environment they remain largely the same.

At the most, you have the result of aggressive eugenics and faerzress.
There's not much genetic diversity but those stat bonuses make up for it.

On a different note, I actually made up a type of subterranean elves for my own piece of fiction long before I knew of drow. Defining traits were batlike ears, albinism and somewhat Nabataean architecture.

Send it this way. If the ping pong ball sized hail doesn't get 'em, the mosquitoes will.

Wait, your hail only gets ping pong ball sized?

Let me know when your hail gets up to grapefruit-size and a passing nearby tornado sucks the windshield right off your car, then we can talk about where to send a bunch of genocidal elves.

If you look at the structure of matter and apply statistics, you will find that the chance is extremely small, but it is still a chance.

I will second BK and ask you guys to take physics, biology and other nasty critters like that out of Glon's gothic moment!
