Have you considered using kickstarter and have fan funding for volume 3? That's what the web comic "The order of the stick" did, and they raised over 1,000,000 dollars from donations.

I think I've answered this a few times in a few places, now - we can't use Kickstarter. because we're based in Canada. You can only use Kickstarter with a valid US bank account on a US bank. which we don't have.
