Yes it worked; But she was alive then. Now she is most likely the lord of this particular hell so all bets are off.

i wouldnt say jone is the lord (or rather lady? :p) of this hell...

a more appropiate description would be some kind of "random occuring weather phenomena that torments the local inhabitants with horrifying onslaught"

That place is a hell. Jone is its dealer of torment. In a very technical sense, while she probably isn't that hell's 'lord', she is its devil. Have a warrior demon linked to her soul makes that even more appropriate.
