Uh-Oh. Here it comes...
I foresee a warrior Goldie in the next ten strips.

Only if she cottons on to the Goblins' killing and eating every furry or feathery critter her song draws in -- and she is not the most perceptive. ^_^;

Why is the goblin telling the story miming shooting the deer with a rifle?

Oh, never mind. It was a crossbow. My bad.

So what, are these a rare breed of mute caretaker gnomes bred specificity to listen to orders and not be able to voice any complaints and annoy their master?

It's a dramatic convention. They're 'speaking' goblin, and Rich isn't giving us words since we wouldn't understand them anyway, thus preserving suspension of disbelief when Goldie's talking 'common'.

Or something like that.

What a charade. Wait, let me see: "big-smile singing attracts tasty wing-beasts, long-ear-beasts, antler-beasts. Shoot. Best served while still warm."

I grinned like a maniac. Thanks, you've made my day!

Wait, wait, wait. If everybody is suddenly going to start having and speaking racial tongues, it's going to violate 2200+ strips of continuity.

I know that all races having their own racial language (not to mention alignment languages and thieves' cant, etc.) is a big ol' D&D trope, but unless I've missed it, isn't everyone in the entire strip speaking and understanding the same common language? If underworld Drow and desert-dwelling hyena-people from half-way across the world are all mutually intelligible, then there's no reason to believe that this little band of goblins are all chatting in a Goblin language that even other goblins don't use.

As I suspected in an earlier thread, nobody but the Princess seems to be talking this arc.

I don't mind, it is a narrative game. I just like the idea of the ogre not talking because he strings her along :D .

I prefer the idea of him not speaking because he is overwhelmed and mesmerized by Goldie's constant stream of birdlike chatter. ;)

Fast Talking is, after all, a skill in Cthulhu games!
