We're back to WoW- due to my orders, of course ;)

We've been through WoW, DDO, Vanguard, and LOTR- and now we are back to WoW.

I like WoW- I like the pretty graphics and for a while there, I was gaming with some people I liked- what I don't like is there seems to be so much guild politics in a RPG that it makes me SICK (and I'm not talking about roleplayed politics- I mean petty crap).

DDO- I just felt like you were running the same quests with identical monsters over and over.

Vanguard just... was a PITA. It killed my computer, ate up all of my hard drive, and although it had nice graphics and interesting races, it didn't call to me.

LOTR- meh.

So we are back to WoW.

Really, I'd prefer AD&D, 2nd addition, with a little of 1st addition tossed in, perhaps a dash of SpellJammer, and everything in between- but since my DM is across the country from me, I'll have to stick with these silly online games.

I've been playing Pi Story lately. However I also usually play Dofus. Both are great free mmorpgs. But they have their bugs. If I could afford it I would probably play WOW.

Money. It's a wonderful motivator.

I've been playing FFXI since the American release, and I'm still enjoying it a lot. I'm kind of surprised it wasn't its own entry on the poll, since of that list, only WOW has more players.

I'm looking forward to dragonball online. I like toriyama and I'm cool with lining his pockets.
As for the rest, I quit wow and am avoiding warhammer, only champions online has me interested.
I think one of the problems I have with mmorpgs is they aren't rpg's, they're time sinks and I'm casual in my harcoredness and a big fan of story. These are really just battle simulators, they're giving me Risk and I want dnd 3.5 with my bestest friends (that don't exist).

Currently I'm not playing any, I haven't had the time, money, or motivation. I've been keeping busy running my 3.5 ed forum based game.

I have played SWG, WoW, DDO, Ryzom, Eve, and AoC in that order. If I restart playing one of them it'll either be Ryzom or AoC.

Ryzom is a little known game that mixes magic and sci-fi. It has the best DM's and most freindly player base of any of the MMO's I've played. I think it's currently free to play as their still in a transitional period after the game changed owners, the install files can be downloaded for free as a torrent.

As of late I've been playing Shadowbane. It seems as not just as good as a free game can get but a lot better in fact.

The only criticism it could get is that it's too mono-focused in fight (be it PvP or GvG) but at least is not a boring grinding machine as most MMPORGs are: you can get to the highest level in few days in fact.

Ok, I'm super confused about the posts from 2007 talking about having played the Age of Conan and Warhammer MMOs... as far as I know, those games both came out in 2008. Can someone shed some light on that? Or am I going crazy? :o

Age of Conan has been rumored, officially commented and promoted since 2005.

Darn! Today was announced that SB, arguably the best fantasy-themed MMPORG ever (or was it just the best game ever) is being clausurated by Ubisoft by next May 1.

I am (like all the players) appalled, moreso as I had just managed to grab a city and were looking forward to grow.

There is an online petition asking Ubi to keep the game going, even if it's made pay per play. Please, sign it.

Yeah, but someone mentioned having played it. Maybe they were just beta testing it.

Just a note, for the record.

I have mentioned here and elsewhere that my favorite MMORPG, Shadowbane, would be ended by May 1st. Well, in the last moment it has been extended for two months until July 1st, allegedly as reward for the loyalty of players and blah, blah. Actually we have no idea why they (Ubi and the designers) are coming and going on this matter but the game continues by the moment.
