Prediction: I think next time the "heroes" are about to win Dewcup (or her double) will somehow manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for the third time.
They have tried killing Arachne before, doubt it will work any better _this_ time
Now if Arachne had just done it, rather than pausing to explain what she was doing to the enemy (and us), she might have finished before Drow-cups messed things up. Meh. I hope there is a backup plan to the backup plan. At least that does explain why she kept the former queen around all this time. I don’t imagine the soul-binding poison is going to do much to someone with just one soul, but if she doesn’t get treated by a healer soon, she might be a gonner. Where is Ata?
Evidently, when Dewcup separated, Drow-cups got the incredibly annoying ability to do exactly the wrong thing at the worst time.
Great section of story though, it explains a lot.
To be fair, I don’t think she knew Drow!Dewcup was there. And even if she did, who’d think even *Dewcup* would be stupid enough to do what she did?
Wait, if Dewcup is in Drow-cup? Who is in D-cups? o_O
Are they _both_ Dewcup? Having two of her is a kinda scary (but arousing) idea!

Wow! Rich, this was a turn of events for Arachne that I never thought I would see. You said there were going to be big changes, and you sure weren’t kidding!
One little query: should ‘know’ in the second last panel be changed to ‘knowing’?
"You can die now, _knowing_ that you FAILED."
"Know that you failed" from the point of view of a victor in battle facing their defeated dying enemy taking the mocking words as the last thing they hear works.
But that doesn’t go with the rest of the sentence, "As you die now, know that you FAILED." is a workable alternative
Wait… why can’t Arachne transfer Ranna’s soul into her now dying body? Poison prevents Ranna from escaping and it if Arachne is dying then it makes a great "you’re coming with me" moment
I think she is only the conduit, bot groomed as the vessel, that and the poison might keep souls from coming in…..
Huh. That would be somehow… perfect.
Why do people keep putting her in a sleeper hold? That dagger probably has plenty of poison left on it. Just use that again.
Because they don’t want to kill the host!

Oh my god. Arachne was killed. Arachne of all people. She was the last I expected to be killed.
She ain’t dead yet, you can’t kill the main character, that’s like killing Han So… oh, nevermind 🙁
I was so glad when they killed Han.
Well, Ford has wanted the character dead for 35 years, bu that’s another matter.
This entire clinging to the past nonsense just drives me up the wall. Get rid of all the old characters, tell NEW stories with NEW characters, don’t just rehash old stories with old actors, that’s ridiculous!
Now if they would just kill off Leia, C3PO (the Jar Jar Binks of the original series) and Chewbacka (if I never hear another Wookie howl, it will be too soon) I would be thrilled. They can keep Luke as the mentor character.
But they won’t.
Hmm… Arachne transfers Ranna to Drowcup. Drowcup, being Drowcup retains enough control of the body to suicide to save Arachne. Ranna loses.
That would be just as bad as killing off Arachne!!!!

Yes, but this is based on AD&D, so death is not necessarily permanent, just look at Glon!
I certainly won’t disagree on the former… even when all the cockroaches are gone, Fang will still be walking the earth, uttering nonsense as if nothing had happened.
I think this is the 3rd time for Arachne being killed and the 2nd time Dewcup (in one form or another) has choked out Ranna. Hogan I agree it appears Rich has been watching Game of Thrones too much.

You are not missing much, it’s just like "Downton Abbey": too much hype, very little substance, only difference being, _no-one_ is safe in GoT as they kill off _everyone_ (whereas with "DA" you just wished they did)

Am I the only one who could actually stand to see Arachne taken down a peg? Granted, killing her is a bit extreme, but watching her take down a god so easily left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
She had basically been bred and raised for that purpose, and she didn’t take down a god, just an avatar of a god(dess)
Not so bad as her contingency plan to deal with the goddess being *immediately* nullified as if nothing happened. That is really pointless.

I don’t know. When she is stabbed and drowcup saves her, she has closed eyes. When Ranna triumphes, her eyes are open.
No, the only one who closes their eyes at any time, is Lizzie
Remember: Drow have no pupils (or is it iris’?)
It amuses me how, despite the ability being introduced for a one-shot gag, Arachne has gotten a LOT of mileage out of her power to spit venom.
A tonne of amazing things happening here (both in concept and execution), and the one thing that keeps nagging at me is this:

A few things occurred to me: Arachne was dragging Lizzie along to be the sacrificial vessel, what was going to happen to Lizzie’s spirit after Rancid was placed in her, sealed and killed?
Was this the reason why Arachne was upset that the True DM’s had kidnapped her and were in the process of converting her?
Who would have been the sacrifice if Lizzie _hadn’t_ been deposed by Mari-Marc? Seriously doubt Arachne would have been allowed to sacrifice the Queen

I tried and it didn’t help.
But I restarted the browser and now I do see it.

These ast few strips ahve been WAY too stressfull.
So "bind your soul to body so you die for all time" — does that mean that Arachne has been literally obliterated, with her soul killed off and not entering the afterlife?
I missed it the first time around, but this time I spotted the connection between the panels where both Dewcups killed a host using the same choke-hold, & then the look of peace on the face of the dead host’s faces as they were finally free of Ranna’s spirit. VERY Well Done!
