Also: Yay! Glon’s in this story! He might be needed to call Lewie in for an assist before too much longer. And, Lordie. Might Jone be not too far behind?
yes, particularly in the first few panels of the actual swinging. C’rhynne seems relaxed & confident with her postures, as if she’s studying her opponent’s skills rather than actually fighting…Up until she gets disarmed, *then* she fights to end it quickly.
That’s no mean trick to manage considering her "opponent" is Glon. He’s no slouch as it goes with being a warrior.
I suspect there was heavy meaning and tone exchanged in the "I don’t want to hurt you" / "Nor I, you." Neither of them are fighting full force, Glon is mostly likely trying to keep the noise down, besides…this is C’rhynne’s home turf, and…still, he manages to disarm her quickly. I think that’s quite a testament to Glon’s skill with the sword, right there!
Those sword moves were telegraphed very well considering it’s a comic and how short it was, but the last three panels confuse me a bit – it looks like Glon’s sword would’ve had to move from his right to his left THROUGH his opponent somehow to be facing the way it is at the end? Maybe that’s just me.
I thought it was fairly clear, but to explain: Glon’s sword starts at the ‘end’ of panel 19 pointing down and to his left, with C’rhynne’s blade on the outside line. In panel 20, he does a ‘pris-de-fer’, a hook maneuver that loops his blade (with the forte of his blade against her faible) down and then upward in a high arch which wrenched the hilt out of her hand, flinging her sword against the wall.
C’rhynne then uses her hand against his to knock the sword out of his grip and punches him in the jaw.
It’s not *super* clear, but I think it’s about as clear as it’s gonna get in 2-D space without presenting it at a slower pace than the rest of the exchange.
It does look well thought out, though I thought you were going for a "Radoppio" sort of move. Much better than most attempts to depict sword fighting, sir. My hat is off!
Full disclosure: I am pretty good at stage fighting, but crap at real medieval fencing.
Glon’s urgency and desire mirrors mine tne oast year to get into a library for longer than what it takes to check out. And that is my only complaint about lockdown… Says a lot about me i guess lol
Ouch!
Oh, hai Glon.
A doozy indeed!
Wauvzers! 😮
That’s one badass librarian all right…
Yeah, I would hate to be the one to turn in my books too late…
That was just for being too late to check in while the library was still open. Wait’ll you see what she’s gonna do to collect the late fee.
She wins a fight against Glon, and NEVER TAKES HER HAND OFF HER HIP!
Glon! I was hoping he would turn back up. I hope the wives and kids are okay.
Yay! Haven’t seen Glon in a while!
Someone who can disarm Glon barehanded?
R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

So…in this world, librarians clearly take levels in Monk.
Looking back on my own experiences, that’s pretty accurate. ;P
Hee! You take her sword, she takes your arm, and jaw.
And as you learn from The Librarians, no Librarian is without a Guardian. ?
Meh, Glon can shake it off and he’ll get his meeting now.
PS some nice sword moves de-scribed by drawing.

Glon can read?

Oh but wait. Where there is Glon there is usually that other one…
This strip was, and I think I speak for everyone, absolutely worth the wait / extra time put into it.

An excellent PAF!. Worthy of an indomitable Gaul.
Ils sont fous, les Rannites!
