Basically the whole plot of the entire series wouldn’t have happened if a.) royals stopped producing bastard children or b.) royals would actually occasionally acknowledge their bastard children.
Oh well that’s historical. From the wikipedia article: "Revival
From the Stuart era (1603–1714) and later, a pseudo-Anglo-Norman usage of Fitz was adopted for younger sons of the British royal family who lacked a legal surname, and particularly for illegitimate children of kings, princes, or general upper class men, for example Fitzroy, (meaning "son of the king", from the French fils du roy); Fitzjames, son of king James II (1685–1688); FitzClarence, son of the Duke of Clarence, later King William IV (1830–1837); and FitzGeorge, son of Prince George, Duke of Cambridge (1819–1904). More generally, in literature the prefix Fitz has been used to connote nobility, for example in Anthony Trollope’s 1862 novel Orley Farm which features the fictional rakishly aristocratic figure Lord John Fitzjoly."
Every day you’ll learn something new. But the books are awesome! I recommend highly to read them all, if you just have time. Farseer Trilogy is the first one.
So? That list was of the ones that Gruumsh engineered to be the ultimate warrior. I'm quite sure that the child of two pacifists would *not* be something that he would set up.
I have to wonder though, if every half-orc was orchestrated by Gruumsh. Given human tendencies to bone almost anything as noted below, surely there are a few that are a product of nature rather than manipulation?
(Admittedly, one born to a reigning monarch on either side does smack of interference…)
To be fair, humans are notoriously willing to bone anything considering we always seem to be able to hybrid with anything in fantasy worlds, and if an orc country is right next door well that means more opportunity to run into and bone each other than a human would with say, a drider.
That’s always been my theory on why so many monsters and aliens in sci-fi and fantasy are always trying to conquer/abduct humans – the versatility of our DNA makes us the best, most adaptable breeding stock in the Known Universe. Of course, we also come with a side of genetic crazy that often make any healthy hybrids very, very dangerous.
Love Elixir; the ancestor/plot device of every halfbreed and hybrid in any fantasy world, conveniently called “Love Elixir” in Xanth even though the effects wear off after “woo-hoo.”
Coincidentally Piers Anthony has a creepy obsession with underage sex… *cringe*
Now that you mention it, it really parallels Glon’s story, doesn’t it?
There’s also "There was no denying that kid’s heritage when she was born though!" – "It was clear the child was no pure orc", and how neither child was likely to be accepted.
Sorry I’ve gone quiet again my people. Alas, things at work have taken a turn for the rushity-rush again and it’s eating into my personal projects time. I’ll get more going as soon as I can, promise! I love this comic and I hate seeing it go fallow even for a day.
I knew if I just took the time to read the comments, I’d find something like this. 😀 Take care, thank you for the heads up, and I hope work calms down for you soon! 😀
I, too, love books of Robin Hobb.
I’m glad you love Robin Hobb’s books. But I’ve never heard of them. What is the connection to today’s strip?
Basically the whole plot of the entire series wouldn’t have happened if a.) royals stopped producing bastard children or b.) royals would actually occasionally acknowledge their bastard children.
Also all bastard children were called Fitz<insert Father’s name here> (the main character was called FitzChivalry) – like FitzGlamor above

Jum…but this princess wasn´t in the "list" of Gruuumsh…of course, wasn´t exactly a detailed list but still…
Yea all the half orcs one mentioned were male wernt they
So? That list was of the ones that Gruumsh engineered to be the ultimate warrior. I'm quite sure that the child of two pacifists would *not* be something that he would set up.
Hello, princess. Let’s find out what became of you. ❤️
LOL attempt #1 with wrong sign-in…
Panel three: the people seemed to think the child was mine.
maybe she wasent one of grummsh planned half-orcs?
Panel 1: Missing the "T"s in "to" and "the" 🙂
Actually more times than that AND Elegrost is written as Eletrost at one point!
Somebody’s having a bad day on the keyboard. 😀
Panel 2: Elegrost. Which should wrap up the spelling corrections.
Harek’s an interesting name; does it have a meaning?
Where is Harek mentioned?
In the character list beneath the comic. "Characters: Anroth Firefist, Captain Torvid Mak, Princess Harek FitzGlamor, Queen Glamor"
And here I thought we were seeing the birth of Jone.
C’mon, we’ve already seen that one.
I guess Torvid became the hybrid princess’ step-daddy.
Welcome, little princess. Let’s find out what becomes of you. ❤️
LOL attempt #2 with wrong sign-in…
Welcome, little princess. Let’s see what becomes of you. ❤️
Heh. I find myself regretting this strip isn’t in colour. I’d love to get a sense of the baby’s skin tone.
t!
Green?
Ah, but HOW green?
t!
"Not Easy" Green. As in, too green for Human and not green enough for Orc.
Maybe she can pass herself off as a half-elf ..?
https://yafgc.net/comic/0112-re-pork-cussions/
Maybe something like Glon’s colour on this strip:
https://yafgc.net/comic/0300-night-of-the-living-glon/
Perhaps a bit lighter, in case they get darker as they grow older.
Lol, reminds me that Bob was easy to draw because he was round from every angle 😀
Yeah, at that point if Glon had been sent back much later, he’d be in a mess too deep to dig his way out of…
Tune in next time for the continuing story of "How green is my half orc?"
…I’m not sure if I remember correctly, but didn’t Dragon Magazine have an article with that title?…
That was "How Green is my Mutant?" for the Metamorphosis Alpha RPG.
I think it was How Green is my Mutant, and it was either a Metamorphosis Alpha or Gamma World article.
I’m sensing a pattern here… a lot of Human/Orc Hybrids popping up across the era(s)
also, t’would seem half the "T"s have gone on strike
I just remembered that this was Gruumsh’s plan all along… Still a pattern though, even through god-like intervention
I have to wonder though, if every half-orc was orchestrated by Gruumsh. Given human tendencies to bone almost anything as noted below, surely there are a few that are a product of nature rather than manipulation?
(Admittedly, one born to a reigning monarch on either side does smack of interference…)
The father isn't the orcish monarch. And is Gruumsh *really* going to engineer the union of two *pacifists* when trying to make his ultimate warrior?

Makes you wonder about centaurs, doesn’t it?
no questions if you read the Xanth novels
Love Elixir; the ancestor/plot device of every halfbreed and hybrid in any fantasy world, conveniently called “Love Elixir” in Xanth even though the effects wear off after “woo-hoo.”
Coincidentally Piers Anthony has a creepy obsession with underage sex… *cringe*
"When we could no longer hide the pregnancy the people seemed to assume it was mine. And I gave them no cause to think otherwise."
Reminds me of "The general naturally assumed the child was his, and I made no attempt to correct him"
Now that you mention it, it really parallels Glon’s story, doesn’t it?
There’s also "There was no denying that kid’s heritage when she was born though!" – "It was clear the child was no pure orc", and how neither child was likely to be accepted.

Just glad you’re still hanging in there, sir!
Likewise, glad that you’re still hanging in there. No worries, Rich, family and work should always come first.
What they said, and thanks for letting us know!
It’s ok. I’ll just set up a robotic finger to refresh the page once per day after my death 😛
You mean you don’t already have one setup? 😉
Works on my wife.
(I did not just say that lol)
Thanks for telling us!
We have faith you will return to it, and are greatful for all the storytelling you have given us so far.
I knew if I just took the time to read the comments, I’d find something like this. 😀 Take care, thank you for the heads up, and I hope work calms down for you soon! 😀
Anyone taking bets as to how old the baby will be by the next update? 🙂
Rich is sparing us all the nappy changes. 😀
Their passion took its course, with the result
that the result for her was growing obvious.
