Long swords are designed for two-handed use, arming swords are designed for one handed use. A Bastard sword is also know as a hand and a half sword, being the swords that fit between the arming sword and long sword.
The term long sword is not due to the blade length, it’s due to the length of the hilt/grip.
So the sharknom was using a long sword, not a bastard sword.
…
Though looking at the blade length in panel 3, might be a greatsword like a claymore or zweihander…
Thank you, always just figured a ‘long sword’ was a, well, long bladed sword that was between a certain length (longer than a ‘short’ sword, butt shorter than a ‘great’ sword)
Knew it wasn’t a specific _type_ of sword
One reason the Bastard was called the ‘hand and a half’ is because it’s kinda in between in the long and the great (it is _usually_ held with two hands, butt it _can_ be used with one), the reason for the name was either because of the weight or the damage it caused (was in Scotland about ten years ago, went to that castle that was in ‘Highlander’ and a guy tried to make us believe bastard swords had no edge and that the sword was basically a fancy metal club you beat your opponent to death with  )
Well, he _did_ land on his target, so ‘better aim’ is something he doesn’t need… and it does look like he is cutting the shark (lines on the back and looks like blood on the axe)
I was actually thinking about Zac hitting the target with his axe at a sensitive spot (like the brain). I thought it was someone else’s aim that got Zac onto the shark……
The idiot with an axe is going to gt himself killed…
Not as much as the idiot using a _bastard-sword_ on a ship!
Everyone knows you use a cutlass or a rapier
Standard sea… air practices that be! None should be held with the same respect that be using a land sword!
Don’t stereotype people, Guesticus. š

His weapon just got upgraded from a sword to an axe.
Zac is only in panel four, not panel two or three
And which does anyone think Zac needs more: better aim or a sharper axe? Maybe he shouldn’t have been marking the walls of the ship?

Panel 3 – pin cushion š
Is it me or does the Sky Shark in Panel 4 look REALLY annoyed !
If it wasn’t a shark, I’d say it was trolling.
Looks like Zac stuck the landing, against all probability.
Iām rooting for the sky sharks.
I wonder what happens if Zac’s shark tries a roll.
t!
Thought it was ‘Diles and Gators that rolled (unless this Shark is named ‘Rick’ >.> )
Some shark species do roll when feeding. Cookiecutter and lemon sharks spring to mind.
These look like Great Whites or White Pointers to me
Butt, we are speculumating on a species of shark not currently found on our planet
You mean like a natural 20 š
I was thinking a cold, stale bread product that gets served with the soup of the day, but yeah, that works, too.

"He chops down sharks, he skips and jumps…" š
Dude. That shark has taken THREE axe chops to the brainpan from a Barbarian-styled character. That’s a really tough shark!
And it’s a really dumb Zac. Let’s say he succeeds in killing the sky shark.
Then ….. um, I hope Zac can fly!
