What really makes this worse is that Turg didn’t need to come down here. He could’ve just taken the kidbird and left. He specifically fought his way down, burst into the dungeon, and violently interrupted the villain so that he could give Runt a piece of his mind and THEN leave him to his fate.
Or did he fight down there to make sure the Rannite villain that was responsible for holding his child was eliminated first. Runt was not really a consideration, one way or another. With the mid-level boss taken care of, he can work on rescuing his son without interruptions.
That is indeed a possibility. Considering how quickly they arrived to the prison, they must have noticed when Runt and Awl arrived. Which means, they could have captured both of them. Unless Awl saw them in time and flew away.
Also, Turg might just gave Runtherd a a really harsh lesson. It’s kind of telling him "I could save you, but I won’t. Because you don’t deserve it."
Hmm, we didn’t actually see if getting thrown back into that wall killed Vivay. I mean, one can hope, but with someone like her, best to be really sure.
I would say the most important thing in Turg’s universe is FAMILY. Sure, he was willing to do a probably-not-too-dangerous favor for an old friend with some of his flying kids, and hanging out at the hidden temple in the sky wasn’t that dangerous, especially with what was happening on the ground. But Runt coming along and talking one of his impressionable teens into going right into the center of the violent overthrow of a kingdom by an evil goddess and her minions without backup… That is something else entirely. I can see Turg’s side in this. I mean, yeah, Runt wanted to rescue someone, but he endangered an impressionable teen without their parent’s consent to do it. Just because a wizard did that to him doesn’t make it right to do it to others.
Hopefully Turg trashes most of, if not all of, the Rannites in the immediate area, and Runt gets found by someone else more friendly to him. That is about the best he can hope for right now, from what I can see.
I’m guessing that Vivay remains alive and dangerous, if moderately concussed. Turg’s expression when he slams her aside isn’t "Die, villain!" It’s "Get out of my way so I can give king-boy a piece of my mind."
Similarly, I doubt he’s here to kill Rannites unless they specifically try to tangle with him…and after one look at Turg’s face, they’d have to be dumb even for brainwashed minions to do that. With Alaria long gone from the castle as well, potential rescuers for Runt are thin on the ground. He may have screwed this up worse than we knew…
My guess is also that Vivay is still alive. Likely also going to be "a bit" upset about being thrown aside like that, not even mentioning the possibilities what the presence of a minotaur down here implies. Which might means, that Runtherd is going to be tortured "a bit" sooner than originally was planned. Especially after Vivay learns, that Alaria is not in her cell anymore…
Dayum. Turg couldn’t have cut deeper if he’d used an Astartes Pattern Chainsword. I mean yikes. Can’t even imagine the dressing down Turg’s son is in for.
I mean, SOMEONE had to beat it into Runt that he can’t just do whatever he wants. This whole plan may have been noble, but it was incredibly stupid, and ever since the whole mess started, Runt’s been running around like a headless chicken. Not gonna lie, I’m sad he didn’t get to fulfill his rescue mission, but if he’s ever gonna get a chance at a wife, he needs one who can keep his stupid butt in line.
Okay, two things.
One, I love how angry Turg is. Runt never imagined what danger he put Awl in.
Runt needed to hear his lecture and have a moment to consider what Turg said. I’m sure Turg is not alone in his rescue attempt, especially since he didn’t really have a way to fly to Elegrost alone, so somebody will come along and rescue Runt. Hopefully Runt will understand how foolhardy he was and turn for the better.
However, I question Turg’s motivations. I understand his loneliness and how he wanted peace, but he’s not Tom Bombadil and he can’t expect to outlast this conflict and then peacefully retreat elsewhere. If Ranna wins, there’s nowhere to go. If not for himself, why not fight for the good of his kids? It’s just about enough to call him a coward, isn’t it?
As for Runt trying to rescue Alaria, I think he was right. The methods he wanted or employed were probably bad, but Thomas appears to have rescued her without much difficulty or resistance.
He was right because abandoning her would be frowned upon — if not by Alaria, then by his subjects. Suppose the war was won and Alaria would be rescued and brought to Runt by somebody else — a classic Tristan and Isolde story. Or that Runt would rescue her, would she be happy if it took long and didn’t require heroics specifically for her? (I mean, she might, but she could still have conflicting feelings.)
Well, as for one, as long as Ranna has no interest in the treasure of Temshutep, she has no reason to bother Turg and his family. In turn, Turg and his family have no reason to be bothered by the rule of Ranna. Still, it is likely that they did pick a side, or at least leaning towards one, as they gave a lift to Vanessa and co. to the tomb of Ch’Thier.
As for an other, Turg did not came alone, Narla brought him here. Also, Eddie sent Sir Aeden and Sir Idries after him, but I doubt they got here unless they got a lift from the other Sphynxetaurs – what Turg likely wouldn’t approve. However, if it is only Narla here with Turg, the chances for Runtherd are slim.
And for last, but not least, Runtherd is important for his people. He might be important for the Rannites (in which case they definately won’t kill him). But he is not needed to defeat the Rannites. Of course, it could raise the morals of the people, if their king reclaims the castle of Elegrost and chases away the usurper, but there is always the possibility to elect a new king if its needed, even after a major disaster. In fact, he is the very example for that. And we all ‘heard’ what Turg said.
So to sum it up, Turg really has no reason to rescue Runtherd whatsoever.
Good question. Turg seems to be glad to have retreated from the conflict, but Awl might understand that their future is at stake here and that Runt is right here.
But I also think that Turg didn’t go to rescue Awl alone and somebody will release Runt in a moment (he wouldn’t be so casual with Vivay if he wasn’t sure that somebody will take care of her).
Oof. What if Turg kills every Rannite there and Runt says trapped until death?
There would probably be a few downtrodden servants/slaves around that Turg wouldn’t kill, so Runt has some chance, at least.
Furious Turg is furious! Don’t think I have seen him have that expression! Wow!
What really makes this worse is that Turg didn’t need to come down here. He could’ve just taken the kidbird and left. He specifically fought his way down, burst into the dungeon, and violently interrupted the villain so that he could give Runt a piece of his mind and THEN leave him to his fate.
That’s some serious anger. X)
Or did he fight down there to make sure the Rannite villain that was responsible for holding his child was eliminated first. Runt was not really a consideration, one way or another. With the mid-level boss taken care of, he can work on rescuing his son without interruptions.
OR … Awl isn’t where Runt left him and Turg’s still looking for the kid.
Well… Turg’s not wrong.
Hmm, we didn’t actually see if getting thrown back into that wall killed Vivay. I mean, one can hope, but with someone like her, best to be really sure.

Eddie sent some of the entourage along so I’m sure someone is going to rescue Runt.
Ah, that’s right; I had forgotten Aeden and Idries were on the way. Still a needed reality check for Runt, but not as grim as it could be.
My guess is also that Vivay is still alive. Likely also going to be "a bit" upset about being thrown aside like that, not even mentioning the possibilities what the presence of a minotaur down here implies. This is good news for Zill. She can blame Turg for the escape now.
Or some other minion Turg killed on the way in (or out)
OUCH! That last burn needed aloe AND ice!
it’s going to leave a mark for sure.
Not the "rescue" he was hoping for.
Dayum. Turg couldn’t have cut deeper if he’d used an Astartes Pattern Chainsword. I mean yikes. Can’t even imagine the dressing down Turg’s son is in for.
He is SOOOOO grounded.
Grounded: Put him in a no-fly zone, enforced by his mother.
I mean, SOMEONE had to beat it into Runt that he can’t just do whatever he wants. And one who can keep his head on his shoulders
I think Turg has the force thanks to that first panel
I love how Turg did NOT strangle Runt in panel 3…. barely
I think the hand over his mouth was to shut him up so Turg could be sure he was listening.
Yeah, but you can shut a guy up and NOT strangle him (barely) at the same time.
Multitasking!
Looks to me like he’s applying pressure on either side: "Keep talking and I’ll crush your mandible."
Either way, Turg is… not to be trifled with.
t!
I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest that Rich has watched Bully For Bugs more than a couple of times.
t!
Panel 2.
t!
I’ll let you be the one to call Turg, “gulli-bull.”
Hehe, what a nin-COW-poop!
Harsh.
Perhaps not wrong, but harsh.
Panel 2 really catches my eye for some reason.
Okay, two things.

[cheering] Yay for consequences!
How will Turg react if Awl refuses to leave Runtherd behind?

So basically Turg is saying, enough bull 😛
Wait, did Turg mean in the last panel, that the people of Elegrost have a better chance at winning now that Runt is in the hands of the Rannite’s?
Yes.
Hoo boy, did he ever.
t!
Thank you, just wanted to be sure
Ready Steady GOOOOOOO!!!
