Chapter: Gathering Storm
Characters: Ayane the Ninja, Goldwolf the Pirate, Philip the Paladin, Rowan the Pirate Ninja Boy, Slissy the Warlock, William the Barbarian
Location: Western T'Pangport
"And after the meal, we can discuss the antidote."
Bearding the wolf in his den I presume
Anyone else get the feeling that someone is playing for the wrong team?
No, not Billie the Barberian (that’s a different team altogether 😛 )
It’s not like Philip is a threat. If Goldwolf doesn’t agree he can just say so and ask them to leave. So I don’t understand at this point why Goldwolf would want to harm them, unless of course they’ve unwittingly landed themselves in the shit.
If they sit down to the meal and the monster from Pan’s Labyrinth is there, I suggest they run, or chop it up. Both are good 🙂
There’s just something about Goldwolf’s words is having me believe he knows more than he is letting on, certainly more than the others, specially the second panel
A pirate, wanting to ‘sort all this out amicably’? o_O
> he knows…certainly more than the others
Which would be a more impressive feat if "the others" weren’t William, Slissy, and Phil. 🙂
Bill and Phil, maybe, but always felt Slissy was the brains of the outfit
Yeah, but Slissybus was the brains of Slissy. They really need her back with the team right now.
Oh? I always thought Phil was the brains.
They are old friends. Why would he not want to sort things out amicably?
On behalf of the Mightiest Beards Club, I’d like to recognize this year’s honorees…
Do merkin’s qualify? Or do they have their own, segregated, club?
Asking for a friend…
*checks the rules* Separate club. Definitely separate club.
Down the rat-filled alley, push the burning dumpster five feet to left, the one you’re looking for is the one marked with a twitter logo, crawl through the spider filled crack behind it and you should be there.
He probably meant "passably", not "passibly", though confusing those terms would be in-character for a guy who confuses "paladin order" with "palindrome border".
(Passable: can pass or can be passed. Passible: able to feel.)
Possibly. Isn’t it interesting:
Passable – physical
Possible – abstract
Warrior – physical
Worrier – abstract
Wander – physical
Wonder – abstract
In each case the first vowel is "a" to represent the physical and "o" to represent the abstract. It’s as if we started with a physical understanding and then used that as a template for an abstract concept and in the process kept the same words.
Or, it’s just a coincidence…
I don’t know if Rich had edited it or not, but I do think "passably" fits. As in "just enough beard to impress".
I’m shocked–SHOCKED!!!–at the implication that someone who practises seaborne robbery as a vocation might be–less than entirely ethical (I agree, by the way).
Even Goldwolf”s not playing for the other side, his "I got mine" neutrality is still a problem.
Very much a Han Solo before his heel-face turn, if you will. A scoundrel.
As for William, who’s to say he doesn’t (inadvertently) mean both words at the same time? It’s both a large beard, and you’re able to feel it. But compared to William’s, it probably feels like peachfuzz. 😉
(Speaking as one of those perpetually clean-shaven guys.)
At least we know Ayane hasn’t been gorgonifed. Going by the fact that all the other turned gorgons hid their eyes with masks (or glasses in Meegs’ case)
Oh, man. What if the real rule is "A gorgon’s stone gaze only works if you can see her whole face", and the eye mask is just traditional?
Or, while we’re making crack theories, maybe we’re mistaking which part of Ayane’s face is actually a mask.
She might be one of those Japanese horror’s who have a mouth on the back of their heads, usually hidden by hair, she might also be hiding a second pair of eyes back there as well
After looking back at when we last saw these guys, does Billie still have red hair?
I’m not sure what Goldwolf’s standard of friendship is – in my country, we offer food to friends *instead* of physically threatening them twice, not afterward.

I’m wondering in what way Goldwolf and Ayane have achieved their dream but can’t enjoy it. I wonder if it’s related to their son — I note that he’s listed as "Rowan the Pirate Ninja Boy".
Maybe he’s declared that it is his duty to see all pirates brought to justice, as soon as he reaches his 21st birthday. Maybe they’ll apprentice him to a pilot.
… or to a couple of doctors.

(giddy with the thought of YAFGC’s take on TPOP)
Okay, took me awhile to figure out what "TPOP" was
Have one question: who will be the modern Major-General? o_O
? I am the very model of a Winnyloohoo-hoo librarian
I’m an authority on history and the keenest antiquarian.
I’ll tell the tales of queens and kings and humble proletarians,
Their causes I’ll research though I, myself, am nonsectarian.
I’m very well acquaintained, too, with arcana and with alchemy
Meegs and Eddy get the glory, but all they know they learned from me
I’ll field questions from apprentices who’ve stumped the whole damned faculty;
And some say that I de-toaded once an inconvenieced Valkyrie.
Some say that he de-toaded once an inconvenienced Valkyrie
Some say that he de-toaded once an inconvenienced Valkyrie
Some say that he de-toaded once an inconvenienced Valkyrie
Some say that he de-toaded once an inconvenienced Valky-valkyrie ?
VERY nice.

Well done!
Oh my! Bravo!
*applause*
Take a virtual bow, you’ve earned it!
*cheers and laughs* ty everyone for the belly laughs- very needed 🙂
and i finished a complete archive binge (as opposed to segments here and there)! I can’t express how grateful I am to Rich and all the peanuts from the comment gallery for the feels, laughs, and discussion that makes me think. Hugs to you all
That last Panel is sexy.
