Is it really a good idea to send the leader to scout unknown forces?
Well glon is probably the most humanoid person they have and it is a war against evil. so sending a goblin or an orc scout might result in attacking first and ask questions later seeing that most humans consider orcs and goblins evil.
Wouldn’t really be a good scout if they got spotted then
And also, the leader is not the one to carry the flag
Speaking of: did they change the symbol? From a hand to a fist?
Yeah, it’s a fist, and you REALLY don’t want to know where they plan to shove it up…

Did they change it when Mrs Bloodhand abdicated in favour of Glon?
Maybe they have 1 for outright war, and a fist would be very appropriate.
Btw, have to say this is still one of my fave strips, regardless of the fact that nobody is stripping
Okay, went back to Hogga’s last appearance thinking it was her ear that she had lost, it wasn’t, it was the right horn on her helmet
I think I remember commenting how lucky it was that the blow that sheared the horn off her helmet DIDN’T take her ear with it…so maybe I inadvertently spawned a false memory there. 😉
For that matter, it’s amazing that hobgoblin warriors don’t all lose an ear or two early in their careers as a matter of course.
Yeah, and in the last page with her, her ear is fine, now the horn is repaired and the ear is damaged…
Hogga: "Yeah, if it’s not one thing, it’s another…"
This is so weirdly casual. I think that helps make it even more euphoric.

In this moment, there is, briefly, no war, no crisis. Only a reunion.
I love this reunion, too, and how close Glon and Lucas have become, considering what a brat Lucas was in his much younger days.
Rich, this is one of the reasons I enjoy YAFGC so much, for heartwarming scenes like this. Thank you.

I’m now picturing a sidearc in which vargr and horse quietly continue that wide-eyed meetgaze from panel eight, then the vargr gently offers, "You’ve…changed your mane a bit, since last I saw you." A bit of silence. "Hello again. It’s…it’s good to see you."
And the horse laughs, gently, in disbelief, processing that this is happening. "That scar…I bet you have a glorious story to tell about it. Hello…it’s been so long, hasn’t it?"
Were they shieldmates in a battle past? Adventuring buddies? Conscripted steeds who traveled side by side? Starcrossed lovers simply not meant to be? Black Mountain orcs remembering their past lives? So many worlds of possibility, in that one wide-eyed "Oh!" in panel eight.
I somehow missed this earlier, and it was a pleasure to read it. are you also an author/storyteller? please say yes 🙂
Aww, thank you, p!enapple. I am indeed a teller of stories, have been an author, musician, artist, game developer, DM and worldbuilder over the years. I am most proud, though, of my small role collaborating with Rich on The Little Librarian, some chapters ago. If I could replace the entire front page of my CV with "Worked with Rich," I would!
I’m hoping that the horse glon rode when he went back to visit the town is okay and is going to enjoy the upcoming upset.
I also hope we get to see gren’s uncle and his wargis!
I don’t think glon is so far away that hogga and the others couldn’t get to him quickly, since it was within eyesight. Although from what we’ve seen of glon’s destructive side, I wouldn’t be too worried about him.
