The Dark Mistress character in the computer game Dungeon Keeper had an equal-opportunity approach to pain and torture. One way to boost their stats and make them even more loyal to you was to pick them up and drop them into a torture chamber where they would emit oddly worrying noises as they were abused by their sisters.
I remember that if they got bored in the spaces between combat they’d just wander in there on their own to ‘entertain’ themselves.
Ahhhhhh, there’s a game that needs a remake.
A real remake you mean… not that POS mobile game.
I think just update to new OSs and screen sizes would be enough. It doesn’t need any changes, it was already good, just like Doom I/II (PrBoom) or Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD).
A remake and a SEQUEL. <3 I was so disappointed DK3 never got made.
Loved that game, still have my copy displayed on my wall of fame in the computer room.
‘Dungeon Keeper’ and ‘Legacy of Kain’ were two of the first games I got when we got our first PC
Loved the voice overs at the start and end of the levels 🙂
And the fact they were separate files so you could listen to them any time out of the game 🙂
It’s called War for the Overworld. They even got the same narrator.
I tried it. It’s not nearly as good.
That boy seems to have inherited some of the jerk genes from his dad. There are mitigating circumstances so he’s forgiven, but better watch out: Jone Half-Orc’s story shows that Rich is perfectly capable of turning a poor child into a complete mister.
I like this kid – plucky little shit that he may be. Reminds me of myself when I was younger, lol 😀

What i’m finding especially intriguing in this chapter, and the force of hobbits one, is that the 2 DMs are remaining true to their word (I think they promised in some sense anyway) to behave and obey flannet. as opposed to killing/incapacitaing her and joining another sect or whatever. Which they could do easily. Wow!

Yeah, that’s an interesting point.
Could be that they know that to the Rannites, the sole survivors of the battle at Greyfort Keep would by definition be deserters, with a very short future. (Rich mentioned a never-published strip explaining how Flannet helped the ladies change their hairstyles; they were terrified of being recognized as deserters.)
Or maybe Flannet simply aced her Intimidation check:
"Psst. Flannet’s asleep. Let’s take the wagon and get out of here."
"Are you daft? She’ll be so mad."
"Well, there are two of us, one of her, we’re armed, and she’s asleep. We could just kill her."
"Then she’d be FURIOUS!"
But I’d rather think that, deep down, they simply like themselves better as rebels than as Rannites.
Prediction time: next strip, the dad will start vigorously arguing against rescuing anyone but him.
And then he gets left behind.
They realise there isn’t enough room in the cart so they get rid of some dead weight 😛
