I don’t think we’ll see Arachne. She died, and we don’t see any of the three that might hint at her return. There are two ways she might come back before Rana is defeated.
1 She was stabbed by a blade that was poisoned with a poison that is supposed to bind a soul to a body. Ranna killed her with the poisoned dagger so unless we see Drowcups or Elzear’bith who could have taken her body somewhere to be brought back, dead.
2 She died, and her soul did move on. It’s in the pit of worms. The entity that looks like a DM with a gas mask (can’t remember what they were called) is the only one who really has free reign of Ranna’s domain, and *might* have some reason to try and free her.
As we don’t see any of those, I have to assume that Arachne is as permanently dead as everyone aside from Lewie (and his patients), Glon and Jone.
Arachne was literally stabbed through the throat with a dagger that she just explained had a poison that bound a soul to a body.
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/2913-final-confrontation/
If her soul was bound to the body, how would she know that Ranna was in complete control of the Afterlife?
No, the poison simply meant that Ranna couldn’t jump to another body
It was implied that she couldn’t just pop back up when the focusing crystal was destroyed after she ran away from her fight with the great sphericalness.
/Putting on my pedant hat for a moment/
STRICTLY speaking, the ‘8-ball’ comment implies that "pool" exists in YAFGC world, because while one can use pool balls to play billiards, billiards does not use the numbers. Balls made for billiards alone are generally plain white or red.
Unless I’m completely mistaken as I’m not an expert on the subject.
With all the time since we’ve seen her, it’s anyone’s guess whether Nephilia has recovered her sight yet. But if not, then I’m certain she’s gotten very, very good at using other senses to compensate. A drow who relies on excuses is…well, Elzear’bith.
I think because Ranna is directly acting in the battle, that leaves the usual rules in the dust. Remember, she assumed the other gods who could or would intervene would be to afraid or too powerless to do so. Apparently Lolth was more interested in vengeance than with self preservation.
I wouldn’t say Lolth isn’t interested in self preservation, and only in vengeance. I’d say Lolth saw an opportunity like any self respecting Drow to shank someone in power, and took it.
Not saying she’s not interested in self preservation at all (if she wasn’t she would’ve struck before now), it’s just that the battle has shifted to such a degree that the opportunity now outweighs the risks.
One might reasonably think that because the drow turned their back on her that Lolth would have abandoned them. However, since the other option is that Ranna continues to rule afterlife and might eventually consume Lolth herself, jumping in to take out Ranna now at her most vulnerable is enlightened self-interest.
When did the drow turn their backs on Lolth?
The orcs turned their backs on Gruumsh (or whatever his name is), don’t remember the drow turning their backs on Lolth
Ugh. You’re just sticking your fingers in your ears and repeating yourself. This doesn’t constitute a conversation let alone an argument. Find out if you’re right or wrong and drop some evidence or shut the hell up.
Here’s the link you need.
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/2764-singled-out/
Until rereading that link just now, it hadn’t occurred to me that our favorite questionable-ethics teacher Phiddipa is now sharing a battlefield with the goddess she renounced.
"Aw, man, this is awkward. Maybe if I pull the snakes down over my face she won’t recognize me."
Because the conversation went like this:
Kogan: [Comment about Lolth]
OldSkoolGeek: [Comment about the Drow turning their backs on Lolth]
Guesticus: [Paraphrased:] I don’t remember that.
OldSkoolGeek: [Paraphrased:] Yeah, they did.
Guesticus: [Paraphrased:] Yeah, but I said I don’t remember that.
And I don’t want you gumming up the comments with endless repeats of "Yeah, but I said I don’t remember that."
Also: I don’t have hate-history with OldSkoolGeek or Nespa.
Also: Have I mentioned that I kind of resent you using my name in your return-of-spite user profile?
I believe they did not turn their backs on her but after the whole orc/drow internal conflict they tuned down on worshipping her. There were not many drow left, to begin with, so they decided to depend more on their own people and royals than their god. they probably summoned her because they already knew she was not on okay with the return.
Huh. I thought that Llolth was one of the gods that got eaten. I guess I must have misremembered. I had wondered if the drow were going to show up, when the other powers were mustering, the drow were conspicuously absent.
Is there going to be an afterparty?
I hope so. what else am I going to do with all this food I’ made?
*There’s* Lolth, glad to see she got the invite 😀
And Wolf, Nephilia, and friends. I’m really glad they didn’t miss the big event!
Still one missing though
We all miss her.
Well, maybe is now when Lolth decided to leave Aracne again inthe living realm, to keep warching the Rainnites
I read "living room" and was confused.
"Dammit, Lolth, it’s boring here. I want a piece of this fight."
"Sorry, ‘Rachs, but Big Bollock and I have got this. You just chill on the couch till I get back."
Someone offer her a Fresca.
"No, Lolth, I’ve already played all your video games, and truthfully, they suck! I need some action, and in more ways than one!"

We may not see Arachne, but wouldn’t her soul have moved on to wherever Lolth was hiding, if her soul did move on?
Arachne was headed to the Afterlife, Lolth was back in her own Plane
Arachne was literally stabbed through the throat with a dagger that she just explained had a poison that bound a soul to a body.

Yeah, Cuddles is back! Go give the big girl a hug, preferably around her mouth and nose.
So many questions …
Ask away …
I hope her child is safe!
Woohoo! Lolth’s alive!
…also boobs. Admittedly spider boobs, but it’s a welcome return to form.
BOOBS! was going to be my comment, but I like yours- the idea of 8 boobs on a torso is uplifting 😉
arguably spider boobs are better than boring old human boobs. the Mighty Sparrow is pleased by this.
Oh, no. o_o I like seeing the Beholder King, but who let Lolth out of the Abyss?!!
She wasn’t banished, she escaped there. So she could have returned any time she wished.
It was implied that she couldn’t just pop back up when the focusing crystal was destroyed after she ran away from her fight with the great sphericalness.
"You’re not the only one 8-ball!"
…
Billiards exists in YAFGC?
Beholders have testicles. Let us end the discussion there, for our own sanity.
t!
…I’ll go with the billiard theory.
Now the question is, how does Lolth knows how many he has?
Sorry, I coudn’t resist. I really tried not to continou the discussion, but it just didn’t work out…
Just so long as we don’t talk about them going into side pockets. Ooops! ?
Gills?
Ew.
t!
T! Too late but ty anyway for that image!
THAT bard- that comment is proof it can always be worse!
Lmao and ty to both of you
From one exclamation to another, cheers!
t!

The glorious anachronisms-that-work of YAFGC.
t!
Wow. Everyone has shown up to the party. Even I few I was not expecting.
Question, If Queen Nephillia is still blind, how is she running forward into the fray? She doesn’t have Cuddles to help her out.
Fairly sure that’s Queen’s-consort Wolf at the front (Nephie has the fancy hat behind him)
Don’t drow have amazing healing ability?
Not to my knowledge.
With all the time since we’ve seen her, it’s anyone’s guess whether Nephilia has recovered her sight yet. But if not, then I’m certain she’s gotten very, very good at using other senses to compensate. A drow who relies on excuses is…well, Elzear’bith.
She just really browned EVERYone off, didn’t she?
Chickens, roosts, so forth.
This is SO satisfying.
t!
Oh yes, this is indeed SO satisfying!
Hail, hail, the gang’s all here!
Not… quite, still one notable absentee
Whoa, Lolth is back?! O.O
Heh, so much about other gods won’t intervene… 🙂
I like how Ranna’s appaearance has evolved through the comic from
https://www.yafgc.net/comic/2390-wrong-number/ to her present form.
8-Ball? It appears that Ranna is outnumbered.
I think because Ranna is directly acting in the battle, that leaves the usual rules in the dust. Remember, she assumed the other gods who could or would intervene would be to afraid or too powerless to do so. Apparently Lolth was more interested in vengeance than with self preservation.
Yeah, Lolth is still pissed about what happened to Arachne
I wouldn’t say Lolth isn’t interested in self preservation, and only in vengeance. I’d say Lolth saw an opportunity like any self respecting Drow to shank someone in power, and took it.

More than Ranna thought at least.
They shut down and converted a bunch of Lolth’s temples, eventually banning worship entirely. That’s about as turn back as you can get.
Like I said, thought that that was just Gruumsh (they turned one temple into a spa and another into accommodation, or something)
Ugh. You’re just sticking your fingers in your ears and repeating yourself. This doesn’t constitute a conversation let alone an argument. Find out if you’re right or wrong and drop some evidence or shut the hell up.

Why is it only me who has to provide evidence?
Even Nespa believed they didn’t turn their back on her
Because the conversation went like this:
Kogan: [Comment about Lolth]
OldSkoolGeek: [Comment about the Drow turning their backs on Lolth]
Guesticus: [Paraphrased:] I don’t remember that.

Does this mean you have hate-history with me? 😛
Want some? There’s plenty to go around! 😀 *smooch*
You hate-history entirely one-sided, have never had a problem with you
And that second comment was me admitting I was wrong (‘thought’ as in ‘past tense’)
One-sided, yes. Perhaps. But think of it this way: It’s great fuel for your martyr complex!
Oh, yes, OBVIOUSLY you weren’t planning on having the last word on every thread.
I believe they did not turn their backs on her but after the whole orc/drow internal conflict they tuned down on worshipping her. There were not many drow left, to begin with, so they decided to depend more on their own people and royals than their god. they probably summoned her because they already knew she was not on okay with the return.
Yes! Yes, yes, yes! So much yes! "Promises of Victory," indeed!
Promises can be easily broken, let’s see who gets broke first
They claim they want to talk.
Yet, they do not look like they want to discuss matters politely.
t!
Fatinah is back, Kurassa have to watch out. Stupid villan who treat his servant/slave?? more cruley then than necessary.
Huh. I thought that Llolth was one of the gods that got eaten. I guess I must have misremembered. I had wondered if the drow were going to show up, when the other powers were mustering, the drow were conspicuously absent.
