You’ve done it again, BK: that Ranna needs her is a twist I was not expecting yet, nor in a direction I anticipated. Also, exceptional drawing of ewwww lol
Looking back at her previous appearance, it would seem that the little helper here is more or less completely naive and ignorant to Ranna’s evil. So her sending Ch’Thier to ‘help’ might just be akin to a child calling auntie to go help mommy rather than any thought out plan.
I doubt this is Arachne, unless death stripped away much of Arachne’s memory or personality. This figure shows every sign of loyalty to Ranna…but interprets loyalty broadly enough to act not on what Ranna wants, but on what she NEEDS. Maybe because the being herself is newly formed and doesn’t have enough individual self-concept to fear Ranna’s wrath. She simply knows that one sister cannot stably exist without the other.
Pretty out there theory, but what if she’s Ranna’s good side?
Back when Adina was in the mirror, she stated that everyone has light and dark sides, maybe that extends to deities too.
Maybe she’s a tiny shard of Ranna accidentally cast out due to her growing instability that embodies whatever goodness she might’ve had. It would explain why she has the authority to release Ch’Thier from her imprisonment.
Like I said last time: I understood it to mean that the poison was going to trap Ranna in her giant body and prevent her from jumping back to Charlotte (or another back-up body), Arachne simply warned them that the Afterlife was controlled by Ranna
Any comment that can accurately begin with the phrase "Like I said last time:" or similar sentiment and doesn’t expand on what was previously said, probably doesn’t need to be said at all.
The thing at Ch’Thier’s tomb wasn’t directly ABOUT Ch’Thier. Naomi was tapping the same energy source as her own earlier incarnation…and both Naomis dealt in arcane magic, not divine. I don’t think the energy we saw released belonged to either goddess.
The gathered mages and priests clearly have a use in mind for that energy, and that use may lead, among other things, to reempowering Ch’Their…but for now, it’s a ball of raw arcane power.
At the risk of getting shouted at again, didn’t say it was about Ch’Thier *Herself*, just thought they were attempting to revive her, going back to that page and there was no sign of the glass coffin
The most likely place for Ch’Thier to re-enter the Mortal Plane would still be where her body is (remember, that was where Ranna re-entered as well… well, not in Ch’Thier’s tomb, obviously)
I don’t ‘shout’ at you, Guesticus. It would be far more accurate to imagine my with my teeth gritted, my eyes rolling or rubbing slowly at my temples when I communicate with you.
If I were shouting at you it would look MORE LIKE THIS, YOU DUMBASS!
Oh, and before you think to reply to this comment…. shut up.
That would be great, but yeah, timey-wimey stuff makes it unlikely.
Maybe we’ll eventually get a one-strip flash forward of Celena and Meegs dealing with the far-flung future (which will probably bore Meegs out of her mind, until she figures out the best way to mess with those gullible future folks.)
Maybe the unknown entity has a more personal attachment to Ranna.
Something like "her good half" or rather her conscience. At least something Ranna didn’t like and wanted to be removed from her.
The being was made by Ranna, either willingly (and Ranna denies the existence) or unknowingly.
Or any other kind of divine being, ranna created with or without knowledge. Time will tell.
This is the personification of "Balance", which is part of both sisters. When there is small "b" balance then it is unseen, but if either sister moves the scales too far Balance appears to nudge things back.
Interestng idea. Looking back at ?’s first appearance in a speaking role, that odd pluralization in "I am your creations" could mean, "I am your creation and Ch’Their’s."
And her line "That’s quite a lot of magical energy, my lovely Goddess" now sounds less like an awkward attempt at small talk and more like the early stages of an intervention. "Been hitting that Magic kind of hard lately, haven’t you, Ranna?"
Might not be power, exactly, that she’s relying on.
? seems to be in some way a part of Ranna, or maybe a part of both Ranna and Ch’Thier. She’s not overpowering Ranna’s security measures; she’s an authorized user, even if Ranna doesn’t know it.
I think that, taking on account that Ranna could swallow and absorb the other deities, and that the burrowing worms are produced by her, Ch’Thier should be able to eat them and regain slowly some power. Not as much as eating 10 gods, but better than nothing, and Ranna would had to produce more worms, losing more power that would have finished in Ch’Thier’s belly.
You’ve done it again, BK: that Ranna needs her is a twist I was not expecting yet, nor in a direction I anticipated. Also, exceptional drawing of ewwww lol
So…Ranna needs her huh?
I wonder if she needs her in a "your sister needs you to save her from herself" way, or "she needs you to go help her against her enemies."
Time will tell.
Looking back at her previous appearance, it would seem that the little helper here is more or less completely naive and ignorant to Ranna’s evil. So her sending Ch’Thier to ‘help’ might just be akin to a child calling auntie to go help mommy rather than any thought out plan.
The two sisters represent balance. If one goes, it throws everything off.
"Balance" between good and evil? Fuck that.
Wow.
Maybe she can have a shower first…
Still say ? is Arachne, time will tell

Will admit the odds that ? is the beloved Arachne is exceptionally slim, doesn’t stop me hoping it is her
We don’t really know *anything* about her, let alone her motivations
WE know Ranna created her, albeit accidently and without her own knowledge.
That *could* mean when she stabbed Arachne in the throat
I vote we agree to disagree and let Rich tell his story.
Agreed (did say the odds were exceptionally slim), just fun to speculate (and hope) some times
Damn! There I go again, trying to get the last word in again
Quite.

Could ? be Ranna’s conscience given form? Since she didn’t listen to her when she introduced herself to Ranna.
Wasn’t Arachne simply going to die and not go on to an afterlife? She was stabbed with the blade that was meant to do that to Ranna, I thought.
Like I said last time: I understood it to mean that the poison was going to trap Ranna in her giant body and prevent her from jumping back to Charlotte (or another back-up body), Arachne simply warned them that the Afterlife was controlled by Ranna

Wait, if Ch’Thier is still here, what happened at her tomb? Or is this a short flashback leading up to that moment?
The thing at Ch’Thier’s tomb wasn’t directly ABOUT Ch’Thier. Naomi was tapping the same energy source as her own earlier incarnation…and both Naomis dealt in arcane magic, not divine. I don’t think the energy we saw released belonged to either goddess.

This is Ch’Thier’s soul, or astral self or whatever, not physical body.
This door wouldn’t happen to be a… *green* door, would it?
For those who don’t get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O0UVI6UsBA
Oh, the song! I was afraid for a moment you meant the Movie!!
Dang! Nice song, thanks!
Well, they are both doors…
Song from my childhood.
Ch’Thier: Oh? My sister is in need of a foot up her backside? I’d be happy to assist my dear sister.
All honesty though., I am very curious to see where this is going.
Really wishing this were Celena, but alas that’s impossible.
Oh, that would be awesome!
But, alas, I you’re right about it being impossible.
Climbing back up those stairs is going to be a bit of a job.
Yeah, they’re not only tall, but they’ll be all slimy now.
"Um, Ch’Thier…maybe you can give me a lift?"

My strange thought:

It’s actually kind of amazing how much power ? has.
t!
